I've got a pair of each size and decided to go with the torpedo this afternoon.
It started off with a smooth rich chocolate, coffee, earthy flavor. A third of the way into it a spicey flavor started to kick in but soon turned flat, like you got a mouth full of ashes, yuk! I tried to give it a chance to further develop but it left me feeling like I licked the ash tray!
I had heard that the flavor profile in these was complex and changed through out the smoke, but this wasn't the flavor I would have liked it to change to, LOL.
I'll let the others rest and then give them another try.
Anyone else?
LLT, did you ever fire one up?

I had the Torp Friday and this how mine tasted. It started out medium in strength with lots of coffee, leather, chocolate spice and smoke. Perfect construction and burn with a gorgeous wrapper. Mine did indeed change profile through out. By the time I was at the 2/3 point it had developed into a full bodied smoke. When I was done,I had a nice buzz going on as well. Sounds like we smoked two different smokes Barry,LOL. X

Smoked the robusto last night and was underwhelmed. A bit harsh with a heavy flavor. Not chocolate or all of that junk, just not a very good start. The taste improved as I passed the half-way point. Seemed to smooth out. Too many other good things out there at this price point for me to do these again.

Okay, I tried mine last night. Good draw, even burn, very complex flavor. Toasty and spicy esp good when smoke held in mouth for a bit. Full bodied but not at all harsh. Towards the end *slightly* ashy taste. I was kind of expecting the ash taste so maybe it tainted my view.
I may try a torpedo in the future but I dunno-life is short and there's plenty more I've yet to try. Like Ashton, Padron anniversary, Dunhill, Diamond Crown, Partagas, Fuente hemingway....loads and loads.

I picked up two churchills for $7.50 each today. I love the "O" line so I have my hopes up.

I think I'll burn one tonight too. I have high hopes for these considering the price.

JonR, they are around $8 a piece. I've got to try the churchill, that seems to be the one everyone else likes.

IMHO the "O" bold is an improved version. More flavor but "smoother." Managed to win two boxes and so far have been very happy with them.

I had the churchill last night and X, you nailed the description exactly. This was my experience as well. I'm definitely going to acquire more. At my local, the churchill provides the better value for the price. The robusto is only 20+ cents cheaper.

Had a robusto the other night and really liked it. It's a real kick in the teeth and should mellow with rest. I paid about $7-8 here in the Atlanta area.

The O Bold is one of my all-time favorite smokes! Full-bodied, but not overwhelming. Smooth and even burn with great flavors from start to finish. Smoked an Oasis Torpedo during the AFC championship game last Sunday -- it lasted well into the third quarter [without a single relight]. Fantastic smoke -- and well worth the $4 per stick!

I agree with X, this is a dyn-o-mite smoke. And they do get better with some 'dor time. Picked up a couple more robustos today and will let them rest for at least a couple of weeks before firing. I'd say give them another try after a little rest, but this is one great full/ full smoke. The complex flavors (as X described) do develope through out the smoke.
IMO a very nice cigar.
