I bought this truck off my Gramps in 1984... I've taken it off roading and gone more places 4 wheel drives wouldn't venture... it's hauled over 3 1/2 tons in one trip and the overloads never touched.. now I have passed it down to my 19 yr old son... had to replace the bed back in 1997... but this truck will probably out live me... IH 200 series... 3/4 ton 1 ton rating with a 345 tractor motor Gear on gear timing and it has a dent in the hood from inside out when I was loaded with a cord and a half of fire wood and pulling a haywagon full of firewood out of the timber one night.. it blew the distibutor right out....
a workhorse for sure...

one time back in 1988 I won a case of beer.. I pulled a brand new 4 wheel drive toyota tonka toy around a square in the town I used to live in... we hooked bumper to bumper with a log chain... I dropped granny low and he barked tires.. thats all it took... you shoulda seen the smoke in town that night....


my other set of tires for the beast are 16.5 33X10s for the back... keep the narrows on the front so she can push the Mudd and snow and get on through the woods... great for Coyotee huntin...

I rebuilt a 1974 IH Scout, 4.88 axels and low low allowed it to go just about anywhere in the western mountains and deserts. Subsequent owners took it to Arizona and on to Colorado. With real truck frames and a bus/dump truck engine, they just won't quit.

One suggestion, my old Scout had an impressive 6" channel iron front bumper. They are excellent for moving things that get in your way from time to time.
