This years big catch for the GF and I!!!

Just an average 40lb Salmon waiting to spawn in Northern CA.

We don't go fishing, we go catching! Hopefully the weather clears up to get one more outing in before the season ends middle of Jan.

NICE! My GF and I used to go night pier fishing not far from where we live in Norfolk, but Isabel totally removed our fishing pier from the beach! We hope to find another place when the spring comes.

Keith,

good to put a face to the name. Nice fish! I think the boat in the background is firing up the motor to get the hell outta there and into a new fishing hole, cause you took the grandaddy!

First to reply to Kevin (Penguin13), the fight wasn't too bad, just a couple runs and then dead weight. Only took about 15 minutes.

Second for Richamaven, mmmmmmmmmmm not lox but a lot of smoked salmon!!!

Unfortunately when salmon run upriver to migrate they loose their scales and don't eat once they hit the fresh water. Over time is why they turn from silver to bronze, then black and to red in color as their biological clock ticks. The meat looses some color and flavor too, but don't get me wrong, a big fish like this is still some great smokin!!!

Yo KNOF: We use that size of fish for bait, and you should see the size of the worms we catch. LOL, Nice size bait tho ! JonR

Wow... Now thats a real beauty. Salmon fishing is something I get to enjoy every so often (down near Astoria, Ore.) and a 40 pounder is a major league catch... I'd celebrate that with very fine stick.

Nice pic, thanks for sharing
