I just finished building a new humidor for my ever growing stock of cigars. The cabinet is 3'w x 3'h x 1'd

I'm not about to use 10lbs of floral sponge to humidify the unit, so I started to search the web for something else to do the job. I mostly came across the oasis unit. They make three units now, and I'm pretty sure I would use their middle model, The Oasis Plus (good for 3 to 10 cubic feet) My unit is about 9 cubic feet.

My question is, am I bound only to the Oasis unit, I can't seem to find any other divice that would do the trick. Does anybody on this forum know of anything else I could use.

Thanks to all who help.

Hey Tony,

You need to build your own credo out of a tupperware dish and use Climmax media. 50/50 will also do the job, but for similar dough, Climmax is far better. For a humidor of that size you'll need 2#. email me for a site to buy them.

Do a search.

Agree that the beads are probably the way to go. However, if you are set on an active humidification device an alternative to Oasis would be the Moist-N-Aire. It is designed to humidify approximately the same area as the Oasis and is about 40 - 60% less expensive. Just a thought..........

My cabinet is about twice that size, I use floral foam and PG/distilled water. If your cabinet is well sealed, 1 standard sized block of floral foam should work. I just have mine sitting in a tupperware container. I have a block on the top shelf and one on the bottom.

I have a Verona humidor. It is about 5.5" tall, 1.5' deep, and almost 2' wide. I have about 2,000 cigars in it. I am using a Cigar Oasis Plus along with two smaller foam oasis humidifiers, and it maintains a wonderful 70% without any problems.

I highly recommend the cigar oasis plus, it does a great job of keeping the humidity up where it belongs, especially here in Colorado where it is pretty dry.

Ditto RK's comment on the Cigar Oasis Plus. It is working great for me in a cabinet humi.

There's a vendor who sells "Set and forget" humidification device. (An alternative way for an active humidification device.) He builds/sells cabinet humidors.
