A quick question. Exactly how do the round (disc) humidifiers work and how often do they need to be recharged? Bought a cigar jar humidor for my overflow cigars (I am out of control buying cigars here!). Unlike my regular humidor which has a humidity indicator, the jar just has the disc and no room to add a meter. I was just wondering if there was some sort of rule of thumb for recharging these humidifiers and how they actually work. I guess it will just be a crap shoot until I get a better back up. In the meantime I have to keep all these cigars somewhere safe. Thanks in advance for your advice!!

on average the small humidifiers should need a refill every four to six weeks. also every six months they need to be filled with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and pg. of course the best way to test the humidity of the jar is by the feel of the smokes within. nothing here is written in stone. hope this is helpful

I suppose there's a small amount of florist foam in the humidifier disk. The only real stand-out feature I've noticed is that with the disk, I have to check much more frequently for moisture content. For some reason the disk seems to dry out faster than a square humidifier of approximately the same size. This doesn't appear to make much sense since the mass of the foam should be the same regardless of its shape.

Just my experience...........

I have to refill mine at least once a week ... so it depends on a number of things.

The best answer is ... whenever it is needed!
