Im sure this has been done but I wanted any suggestions someone might have.
I bought an old Cohiba XV box the other day and decided to use it as a **spare** humi. I have 4 cigars that I thought might mesh nicely with my flavorings.
2 are Cu-avana Maddie Robusto's. I love these b/c they are nice and mild but they have lots of coffee and bitter chocolate tones. The other 2 are felipe Dominica Don Felipe Torpedo's. These are ok, but they have a bit too much pepper to them for my liking.
So here's my current setup. I seasoned the *humi* and have a piece of sponge in there along with the 4 cigars. I use distilled water in the sponge and will refil it as it dries, if it does. I have a favorite coffe blend that Im using. Its a choc. velvet espresso ground bean, and its delicious. I have about 2 spoonfuls in a small milkcap. Here is my concern.
Will the coffee grounds mold or start to smell bad? Does the humidity need to be high or low on these? I dont have a hygrometer in there.
How long should I let them rest for? How often whould I open the humi? The box is an extremely tight seal.
Sorry if this seems like a lot or somewhat random. I know some have *imbued* their cigars and am looking for any pointers you might have,
Thanks,
Josh
