Where the box seems like maybe it was rushed through or not given time for the paint to dry all the way or anything? I've had it happen twice, both times with CAO products. First with a box of CAO Blacks. That was a cool box, with the white and black motif? But it smelled like paint! So I didn't want to put it in the ploomidor. Had to take the gars out and put them in other boxes for storage. Now I got a box of MX2 toro (excellent gar), but it's like they glued some kind of felt to the box? And you can smell the glue CLEARLY when you hold the box up to your nose. WTF? I don't want to put that box in my humidor? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes.

I have 2 boxes of MX2, and did not experience that.

I have 2 boxes of CAO Black, and it definitely DID that...smelled like lacquer, and I never put it in the coolidor.

Bucanero Z and Don Douglas are guilty of this too. GREAT cigars, and Great companies, but the boxes are a bit too much.

...It's funny you post this....I am currently airing out a Don Douglas box to add to the coolie.

Oh well

I wish everybody would quit painting the f**kin' box! I would prefer a nice cedar and tobacco smell.

Yea,

I had a box of Bucanero Don Douglas that smelled like fresh paint. I think it is shrink wrapped before the paint is fully dried. I took the gars out and the box and let the box sit for a week or so... it was OK then...

My Z box was fine.. .but my Mx2 box faintly smelled funny.

The best smelling box I've ever encountered was this chick I met at a bar.....
