I always knew my Grandmas Amazon parrot would bite by the way the pupils dialated and got small; at least that's what I always remembered after getting bit because I got too close when he was pissed! LOL!

barry,

Is it true that birds like that live for over 100 years?

No. One like that could live up to 60 or so, while macaws can reach 80 and even 100, but I have nor heard of a bird getting much older than that. Like turtles, they are long term investments!!

Nope, not the little featherless baby I had a while back. That was a little Cockatiel. This is a Double Yellow Headed Amazon that's about 4 years old. He's still a baby and hasn't reached sexual maturity yet. When he does, look out, he can do serious damage with that beak!

Like mkraus47 said, they can live 60 or so years but rarely more than that. We occasionaly groom a 50 year old Amazon.

They have very good voices and can talk very well. If wants your attention, you'll hear him! LOL.

He has a joke that he loves to tell, "What do evil chickens lay? (dramatic pause) Deviled Eggs! ha,ha,ha."

Russ, some year I'm going to make the LOLH. It's hard to get away when you raise critters.

Hi Marla, Mrs. BMW and I have been doing fine. We're refinancing the house already and close Wed. Another good excuse to smoke one of my better cigars.
E-chick, Evil Chicken...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...maybe Merlin's sense of humor is much more developed than I thought!LOL

We're tryihg to teach Merlin a new one, "What two birds stick together?...........Velcrows!" He laughs at the punch line but doesn't tell the joke.

It's good to find another bird lover on the board. My wife and I have five (5). An Umbrello Cockatoo named "Jolly Mon", a Goffin Cockatoo named "Hiny White" (the only part of him that is pure white is his hiny), a Red Lory named Robertus, a blue-crown conure named Romeo, and a Sun Conure named Sunset. They are beautiful birds and I'll post some picture later.

Your Amazon is gorgeous. I'd just be afraid of that big ole' beak. 😛
