Received my two of each allotment of these the other day and after having them recover from the trip, I decided to set one ablaze one day and the other the next.

For those that might not know, Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana and Christian Eiroa of Camacho agreed to see who could better create the other's brand. I'm not sure as to the specifics of binder/filler, but each was to use the other's wrapper.

Camacho by La flor Dominicana (Litto Gomez): Knowing how I love the Camacho Limited series, I was expecting a lot from this smoke. I must say I was disappointed to say the least. Looking past the poor construction and canoeing effect, the wrapper appeared to be from the regular Camacho corojo line, not the corojo corona wrapper draped around the Limited series. It also appeared the binder/filler combo used by Litto didn't seem to have enough ligero. I was expecting the double ligero, but IMHO could barely detect any; like if he chose the regular line of Dominicana instead. The prelight aroma is nice but a regular corojo wrapper smell does not a corojo limited make (er..something like that).

The draw and smoke amount was fair but the entire experience seemed one-dimensional. Lower end of the medium bodied scale. A disappointment.

La flor Dominicana by Camacho (Christian Eiroa): In a nutshell THIS SMOKE ROCKED!! It appeared to me this smoke was not only more hefty, but upon first light and into it about a 1/2 inch, this seems to be the double ligero wrapper around a blend that if not the Camacho limited blend, then one similar. You can clearly taste both the ligero and the corojo and it is definitely full in body and packing a decent nicotine punch. The prelight aroma was fantastic as was the burn construction. Nice volumen of smoke. This one should age nicely, now if they can just get these into distribution quicker!

I tried Litto Gomez's version of the Camacho.

Being as the LFD 2k #4 is one of my favorite smokes, I picked up some of the LFD Face Offs. I really like the flavor profile, as expected, but my samples were just a tad soft and underfilled. Since I can get the #4s for about half the price, the flavor is very similar and they are packed a lot better, I am sticking with those.

I have a box of each in my humidor. I want to make sure they get a few months each before I test them. I will post my results in another couple of months.

I've had one of each and where the Camacho by Litto Gomez is a decent cigar, the LFD by Eiroa is a very good cigar. Made better and perhaps had better tobacco to work with. X
