Hey all---I'm new to this whole forum (and cigars in general). Anyhow, I've picked up that there's some sorta deal where we can get free cigars and also send out free cigars to each other? I sorta like the idea of that... Anyhow, could someone explain exactly what's going on? I'm a little confused...

well, kinda sorts... there's a PIF and a PIB (go to the trade forum). PIF = Pay It Forward and PIB = Pay It Backwards.

basically in a PIF, someone asks "who wants some free cigars?" first person to say "i do!" gets 'em. but then the person receiving has to pay it forward in kind -- and ask the question and send some cigars to the person who answers "i do!"

a PIB is the same, except the question is "who wants to send me some free cigars?" and the person answering "i do!" does so -- then it's his turn to ask the question, and someone sends him free cigars, and so on.

so the cigars ain't exactly free -- you're obligated to give when you receive. but it's a great way to get to experience different cigars and share with others, too.

Also, anyone have an rec's for a cigar newbie? I like almost everything CAO...particularly the Maduro and Camaroon (but they have to be cheap! Have to keep my college budget in check!)

When I first started out I lived on a steady diet of CAO,Carlos Torano and the occasional Oliva or Gurkha five pack. The five packs can go for waaaaaay below retail here. Keep bidding those five packs, try a lot, do a search for "favorites", "go to", "daily", etc. to see what others like, but you have to just try them for yourself. Also, hook up with the newbie trades thread. welcome!

Congrats Cavallo...........one of the best, most encapsulated descriptions of PIF and PIB I've heard yet..........and I've heard several..........
