I've been looking at a couple of perfectos in Cameroon. The Licenciados Invencible, and Flor de Cano Bouquet. Cbid doesn't carry either line, and I've only seen them by the box. I've had the huge Licenciados Soberano in Connecticut, it was pretty dull. I thought maybe a smaller gar in the Cameroon wrap might be more interesting? The only J.Cano I've had is the 'other' kind, so I've got no experience with the domestically available. Anybody smoke these varieties?

Are you certain that you're looking at Flor de Cano?

Flor de Caney makes the bouquet size w/cameroon wrapper.

Just bought a box of indian Tabac Cammy Legend perfectos and have always found them to be a nice smoke in a high medium price range (I paid $85 for a box of 25 in an auction). First one from the box was good but needed age. I've had better in this brand. Putting these to rest for a year.

La Aurora Preferidos come in three sizes.

Gurkha aged cameroon comes in only one size that

I know of (6x60).

These are both available at CBid and CI.

la Flor de Cano. I won't mention who's got 'em. I should have mentioned the other parameter. The Licenciados are less than 70 per box, the Canos about 50. I love the ITs, but have never seen them for less than 117. I'd love the others I am sure, but out of my price range.

I never got either box, but yesterday I came across a local that just put out a box of the La Flor de Cano (interestingly enough it's the only local where I've also seen the Flor de Caney). I picked one up and smoked it this afternoon. It's about 4-4 1/2", and a fat club shape. The wrapper was typical Cameroon, slick with tons of micro-sized veins. Construction looked dang near perfect, with the draw and burn reflecting this observation. The open foot lit quite easily and stayed arrow straight the entire time. The ash was smooth and white inside and out with no flaking, and wouldn't let go. Two thirds of the way down, I finally flicked it to get the ash off, and it stayed together when it hit the pavement. The power was mostly mild, but had just enough kick by the end to be satisying. The flavor had elements of other Cameroons but was light and transient. I think I would have preferred this one to be smoked indoors (it didn't help that the city of Kirkland had just layed fresh bark next to the cafe patio... bleah). I don't usually comment on general aroma, but this one was very nice (again recommending it as an indoor smoke). After all that though, I probably won't smoke another. Not because I didn't like it, but because it wasn't spectacular enough to warrant local prices, and my old source no longer has the bouquets (I think these are some time out of production). I would consider another size, maybe a thin one that showcases the wrapper a little more prominantly.
