Throughout my short time on the forum I have sadly heard the stories of fellow BOTL's being burned on trades.
I sometimes think after hearing such a story that there are actually people out their low enough that they devise a plan to perform successful trades with 1 or 2 Brothers, then, when the right trade is setup they burn the Brother and disappear into the fields.

At some later date they may reappear under a different handle and again reap havoc on the trusting and always generous people here.
I wonder, is there some way of creating another board on the forum, or doing something, in which a list of these traders handles could be compiled allowing us to check prior to a trade? A blacklist if you will.

I don't think anyone would balckball someone without giving them the fullest opportunity to make good on a trade.
I am not referring to those trades that someone didn't get what they felt was fair for what they gave. In this instance it is a matter of what one person thinks is fair. I believe in most trades conducted, one person gets the better of the trade, that to me is the enjoyable part of trading, doing a little more than is expected of you.
I know the majority of the population here are the most sincere and trustworthy of persons, but that 1% should be identified and available to the general population.
Fortunately, I have never been the victim of one of these trades... (knock on wood), but it saddens me to hear of those that have.

I am sure that there are many opinions on this matter, and it may not even be something that is feasible. But I feel it is worth looking into.

I posted this on the trades board because this is the crimescene. I realize it quite possible should have been put on the miscellaneous board. Please excuse my error if I so made one.

Been discussed before and the general consensus was that it was a bad idea, you have to be careful about trashing someone's rep, stuff happens every now and then...

As Al'Thor said, stuff will happen and that shouldn't be considered reason to blackball an individual. I for instance had a trade go semi bad when another BOTL addmitted he sent my package to another BOTL. I gave him the oppertunity to correct it, and just wrote it off as a learning experience. To that, I also read a lot of good trades by that same individual, but I unfortunatly won't trade with him any more.

So the best is for everyone to compile their own list of the good and the bad. Just my .01, since my .02 cents is worth even less, heheheheeee.

Thanks for the information. I was just wondering if there wasn't some way we could help each other out with this problem. I didn't think blacklisting anyone was the answer, I was just using it as a referencegather ideas if anyone had any.
Best of luck to everyone in their trades.

Best thing to do if you don't recognize the name, search for their handle and see if any trades come up. You could always privately check with the BOTLs that person traded with to see if the trader is legit. And if you are suspect/the person is newer, have him send his end first.

And there is no shame in turning down a trade.

I was in CLUD 2 and some guys were having trouble, I guess.

I was in a box pass and raised a few Eye-Brows with 'takes and puts' but corrected it ASAP so that I could keep what little pride the "4 little people" have left me.

Stuff happens, sometimes you get your sticks late. Me.. I would ratehr have my rep than the sticks..just my .02 worth on a sunny Sat. 🙂

Cigar smoking is relaxing, and I try and take a relaxed approach. Ive been guilty of being late and ive had things sent late to me, but ive never been outright burned on anything. If the occasional trade is a bit unbalanced, remember the times when it was in your favor. If you have to start worrying about cigar related things then it defeats the purpose of the cigars.

I do not take a relaxed approach to a trade!

Unless there are terribly extenuating circumstances, there is no excuse for not sending out one's end of a trade within three days of the agreement.

It takes seconds to place an order on-line and if the trade is for cigars on-hand, packing them up and shipping them usually takes a few minutes.
