Here's how I spent MY week at the Lake of the Ozarks. Only rained one day and that helped the fishing. The Bass seemed to get hungry after the rain. Hated to leave and can't wait to go back. I waited until the rain stopped to wear my sawg CAO cap though. :)

That is my kind of vacation!!! Man, if I could only convince the wife... I hear Cumberland Lake calling...

That should read "Swag" CAO cap. Fingers were working faster than the brain this morning.

The week started sort of slow. We were catching tons of fish but they were very very small. I was having trouble keeping the dang perch off my crank baits. I even caught too huge blue cats on a spinner bait which sort of freaked me out. The larger Bass started picking up and we had loads of fun.

Looks like a fun vacation.

I tried lizards and didn't get so much as a nibble bassdude. Had a lot of success with a Rapala crank bait minnow and a white spinner bait. Caught several with a 7 1/2 inch black and silver worm also. We were in the Grand Glaize Arm around McCubbins point area.

Yep, Cavallo. I've got a good friend who has a place down on the lake (well, as close as you can build to the lake). We live in Louisville and it is about a two hour drive from my house.

We fly fish for trout in the morning in the tail waters. Then we hit the lake for some skiing when the river starts to rise and the trout get shy. Then do some bass fishing in the evening on the lake. Makes for a long day but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

i'm sorry i am not a fisherman, but looking at the piture, you and the surroundings, tells me i am missing something fulfilling. i can see from the picture why you guys fish.

It is a time when I can be alone and completely at peace. No phones / pagers / computer, just me my boat, a cup of coffee and an occasional large mouth bass for company. The only one's I keep are one's I want to hang on my wall and so far, I only have 1 of those in 20 years of fishing.

My goal is to retire on a nice lake that will allow me to walk out my back door onto my boat dock and into my boat in my pajamas 🙂

It has been a long time since I went Bass fishing... I need to correct that.
