Hi

Kazama makes a good point. I to have a humidor that contains cigars without "cellos". The benefits of maturing a "naked" cigar are compelling. The bug problem is often best combated by keeping the temperature and humidity within Optimum ranges. But once in a while the problem does occur in spite of a man's (or woman's) best efforts. For this and othjer previously posted reasons I recommned the "cello" approach for most cigar lovers and especially larger collections(easy to do at cigarbid).

I tend to agree with Russell. However, I found Kazama's comment very intriguing:

"The truth of the matter is I believe that both sides are right and 40% or so of my sticks (go-to sticks, for sure personal stock) are bare and the rest have cello (possibly trade/possibly personal). The interesting thing is the only cigars I have with crystals or plume are IN cello.

Go figure."

Kaz, are you sure that the aforementioned celloed cigars with plume weren't in that state due to their age?

Just the same, I think that I'll leave them "dressed" from here on out. I'm curious.

Blood, yes they are old but I guess I should have written "despite being in cello". I wasn't saying they were crystalizing or blooming BECAUSE of the cello.

I know this discussion has come up hundreds of times, but I don't think I've ever heard any cigar shop owner speak up. The shops keep cello on their cigars without a problem. Cbid, of course sends cigars in great condition. I was wondering if they keep their dors at a higher humidity to compensate for "cello-on" conditions. I originally took off cello, but I seemed to get too many dried out cigars. I switched to keeping cello on and haven't had the problem since.

Just curious.

Why would a cigar shop owner remove them all? It would take way too much of their time.

They turn them over so fast that there is no way to know, is there? 🙂

Besides, the guys where I bought my TV from had all of the TVs stored in boxes. When I got it home, I didn't leave the box on. LOL

Charlie: It'd be more like:

"I actually decided to leave the cello on before I decided to take the cello off."

In Washington they don't turn them over, they just let them grow mold.

I cut the cello off half of the cigar, but not in half like the foot of the cigar is naked and the cap is covered, no no no, I cut it long ways. That way, the top part has cello on to protect it from the pile on, but the bottom part has cello off to allow it to breath. This is without a doubt the ultimate answer to this age old question... Occasionally I mist them with a garden spary bottle to keep the humidity up, but it doesn't hurt them because the cello side is up!

Robby, that is exactly the kind of answer I would expect from a guy who swears that France is our country's enemy amd we should boycott their products starting with French fries and French kissing.

Kazama, that's exactly the reply I would expect from someone who doesn't understand my humor and supports France. Spit on America, wipe your a$$ with the flag, and keep the cello on or off bud, whatever blows your skit up...

Kazama, I apologize for my words, are you French? Or of French lineage? If so, I'll accept a big thank you to my Father and many other good men just like him. Otherwise Frenchy, I believe you'd be speaking German? Oh, and definitely cello on, or off, whatever causes you to drop your weapon and surrender! LMAO!
