Anyone ever try these? Understand they are machine made...But they look tasty!

Actually they are RyJ Perfectos. Box code EAR, ENE02 (jan 02). I was going to let them rest awhile but I could not resist and torched one this evening while sitting on the deck with a brew and my "better half". Not the greatest ISOM I have had but for the price it was superb. The constuction, being MM was a little lacking. The cap was rough and it was slightly underfilled but the draw was good. The wrapper, somewhat toothy, is a nice dark brown with slightly darker lines throughout. Only one vein to speak of. It had that distinctive ISOM taste on prelight draw. The burn was great with thick heady smoke. It was a little peppery on first light but developed lot's of leather and cedar half way through with a short finish. It was definately "nubbable"...

dccrens, MM ISOM's are one of my favorite subjects! Many people caution to keep ISOM's at lower RH to improve the draw, because they tend to draw tight. I find that is not the case with the MM ISOM's I guess it's a case of offsetting penalties! LOL I might reccomend H. Upmann Especaiales, or Jose La Piedras Nacionales as well. The La Piedras taste similar to the ISOM Montecristos, not quite as smooth, but at $30/bundle vice $140/box for #4 Montes, you won't hear me complain! I've seen Paratagas Perfectos for $77/box but haven't bought any yet. PS, I'm not talking about any web sites, I'm talking about world travels here! I think that MMs are an economical way to sample the fruits of an island south of Miami! 🙂

I found Quintaros another ISOM MM in Greece, but the taxes there jumped them up to $125, vice the $70-75 they should have run, I've found the best bargains in Spain, and Gibraltar, where I found the Jose La Piedras. I gave $28/bundle or thereabouts for the JLPs there, but the Euro has strengthened against the dollar some, so they will probably be more. Another advantage of ISOM MM's, who would waste the time counterfeiting a $40 box of cigars instead of a $200 box of cigars! More likely to get the genuine article!
