engletl: i called those "rebate checks" advances on this years tax debits. i, of course did not receive one. i am trying to follow your scenario. are you saying for the tax year 2000 you paid your regular tax bill and since you took less dependents through the year more was taken from your pay than should have been, so you got a refund. than irs notified you that you were not eligible for the "rebate?" let's start with that. or email me [email protected]

Actually last year I was eligible for the E.I.C. and due to that received a sizeable refund. Since I had zero tax liability last year I was ineligible for the additional rebate. This year when I filled I received an additional credit based on my gross earnings for the year 2001. This additional credit did not change my tax liability since I once again fell into the E.I.C. bracket. I was neither penalized or given any additional money from last years added rebate. And yes I do claim fewer dependants through the year to increase the amount I pay in weekly in order to be sure I don't owe money at the end of the year. Todd
