someone owes me an apology or a cigar: "I WISH LAST YEAR I WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A CHOICE ON THE 600 DOLARS I RECEIVED FROM UNCLE SAM THROUGH THE BUSH TAX CUT PLAN. NOW, ACCORDING TO THE I.R.S. AND H.R.BLOCK, IF YOU GET A REBATE FROM YOUR 2001 TAX RETURNS, THE 600 DOLLARS PREVIOUSLY SENT TO YOU WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THAT REBATE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE BUSH IRS CALLS THE 600 DOLLARS I RECEIVED LAST YEAR AN ADVANCE ON THE REBATE IN MY 2001 TAX RETURNS. HERE IS WHAT THE IRS HAS ON ITS WEBSITE ABOUT THIS:

sounds like something only the democrats in the senate could have come up with, but that is a whole different bunch of stooges to talk about.

Sorry Rick,I don't see where it says anything about what you're ranting about. All it talks about is one line on the new tax forms.Show mmmmeeeee!!!

i will look for the post from way back. i said it was not a rebate, but an advance on the next years taxes, and of course i was correct. bush said it was a rebate, but we all know how he lies. i will find the iscussion because it was before you folks joined the bb. i'm glad you all are here but please try not to use clichés. back later.

Normally I do not reply to Ricks twisted liberal drivel, however, As I understand it he is correct in that the rebate is deducted from your 2001 tax return refund. That is what that extra line is for. It is the only change on the form from last year. I do not know if this was Bushes original intent but it wasnt marketed that way... cj

Look no more. Rick, you have a short memory. I already sent you some smokes regarding this issue. But you never answered one of my original questions: If this is truly an advance of the 2001 rebate, then what happens to those who paid taxes for 2000, received the $600 bucks, and didn't work in 2001? Will they have to pay it back? You claimed that they would, and I maintain they won't.

ellesson: thank you and you are correct it wasn't marketed that way.

This was the democrats plan to help the "needest"
citizens. Of course if you got a refund/rebate and didn't work last year you don't have to pay it back.
Just like the dems to say the Huge tax cut is causing
budget problems. Most of the tax cut hasn't even taken effect yet it's their gov't hand-outs that are the problem.
By the way I didn't mind getting an advance on my refund.

Glenn, I agree with you and the Democrats will do anything that they can to cause this "recession" to linger and get near to the elections! All the liberal crmbs are nothing more than sleezy charlatons parading around like they are going to help the working class and the poor! Charlie

This makes no sense, after last year we owed money, because my wife was a sub-contractor (painting for her Dad) and we got money off the amount we owed, are they now going to put that money back into that amount. As i said this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

tailgater: "Will they have to pay it back? You claimed that they would, and I maintain they won't." so far i have found out from my accountant's secretary, if you were lucky enough to not have any income last year, you won't have to pay it back. we don't don't know for sure about next year's kick back to this years advance. irs is having meetings.

Say, didn't Enron pay for the refunds with the money gouged from California last summer? And wasn't ****** Cheney meeting with Ken Lay in Nov. to ensure that we the taxpayers would pay it all back? After all, someone has to bail out the sad sacks who had their entire life savings, 401K, mutual funds, S&H greenstamps tied up in Enron stock. It's not Ken's fault and gee, he only has 300 or 400 million laying around anyways. And his kid needs braces or something. It's classic! We have a surpus ergo we must give voters money for the good job they did voting for us. Dang! Now we got us a deficit. Well, it was good enough for Reagan! Read my lips, "No new new taxes"! "We'll just bring back the old ones"!

JJ28, Ok, I made up some of my previous post. But I'm just connecting the dots, filling in the blanks. ****** Cheney would have you believe it's all Vince foster's fault. If GWB had said outright at the debates,"If elected,I will pay all taxpayers $500"! Would he have gotten less votes or more?

Well Rick how about those of us that didn't recieve the "extra" refund as you put it, yet recieved an additional credit on this years taxes. Due to the number of dependants I have and the way I claim my taxes through the year. I recieved my normal refund, and later received a letter informing me that I was not eligible for the additional refund. Yet when I filled out my taxes this year I was eligible for the additional tax credit. Even though it did not change my liability at all. With or without the added credit I still received the same amount in refund. How does that fit into your scenerio? Todd
