OK, so I figured I'd give a shot at emailing manufacturers and seeing what I could get hooked up with. Every one so far has said no because they don't do samples or that they used to but they got into issues with the taxes, etc. Batting a big fat goose egg here!

I think the trick is to make it seem like it's THEIR idea, and not yours.

For instance, if you heavily subscribe to their newsletters and click on yes to get new offers and news, their is a good chance you will eventually get something.

If course if they think you are some big time buyer cigar club officer,or shoppe/distributor the odds increase. I will leave it to your imagination. 🙂

In an other venue, I seem to get little free stuff at shops about 1/3rd of the time. Like cigar cutters and cigars. And I've only been at this two months.

The thing is, i cut down trees for a living. In my work clothes sometimes I look like a dusty bum, if not worse. when i am at a job site where cigar shop is near, I generally wander in when i have a few minutes and the job is going well with my workers. Of course the proprietors eye me suspiciously, thinking I will rob them blind. They seem to be get rather relieved when I actually several different cigars and ask if their is something new or cheap cutters. One place I went to gave me about 10 samples of their "Fuego Cubano" line which weren't moving. Not bad, but just weren't aged enough.

One has to wonder if this is how Steve (gamelover) acquired the dog rockets that he offered to sell at Herfer's Paradise and that he "generously" gave out in Pay it Forward games.

the how-to on this: you're advised to lie through your teeth and say that you're a retailer but don't have certain papers yet.

dishonest all the way. that's the secret. hopefully this will die now.

your name, integrity and reputation are worth far more than a free cigar or two.
