What the origanal thread asked for was:

A cigar with a similar taste to a Padron.

LESS expensive than a Padron.

Other lines made by Padron.

That's three strikes, derBaddVibe.

Just can't stop being a loser?

Where I live they're the same and some lines are cheaper.

> ...I read in an article or book a while back that Padron made some other cigars other than the Padron line. Is there any truth to this?

"[Padron]intends to remain focused on its existing brands, which for years has consisted solely of the flagship Padrón brand, with total annual production at about 2 million cigars."

> ...[O]ther cigars that have a similar flavor profile to the Padron X000 Maduro line (the 5000 is my favorite non-premium/super premium)?

The consensus seems to be NO & definitely not at a much cheaper price. You might check out some less expensive maduros & find one/some that suits you as an "alternative" [not as a substitute] for the PX000 M line/

Every time that I have pointed out, or taken exception to something abusive, childish, or just plain ignorant from the aptly named derMadScribe, he calls me all kinds of names then he ends up giving away cigars to try to buy some friends.

When you see a thread like this where I get him going, ask him for cigars - he can't say no.

You can thank me later. 😉

Ridge, Padron makes Belinda Blacks. Check out the info on the site with Midnight Madness.

Same maker, similar taste, much cheaper price.

There are two groups of Padrons making cigars...

One group makes the Padron...

And the other led by Estelo Padron makes Belindas and various other cigars...but they are not one in the same...

Belinda Black cigars have "an extra-dark, sun-drenched Media Tiempo wrapper leaf"

Partagas Black Label cigars also have a Medio Tiempo wrapper leaves sun grown in the Connecticut River Valley

Connecticut Yankee cigars by Victor Sinclair are yet another using this wrapper

"[S]imilar taste, much cheaper price" [to Padron]according to RasDas

More similar to each other, imho -- NOT to Padrons

[I like sungrown wrappers & I like these 3 brands]

Kazaman, this board is to help people out, and for cigar smokers everywhere to meet up and talk about anything they want. And once in a while you will come across a great person like DrMad, who is more than willing to share his wealth of knowledge and maybe even a cigar or two. Nobody is here to scrutinize anyone...except a public figure or two once in a while. Sit back, relax, and be thankful we have a forum, and people like DrMad in this forum , that can help us all out with our cigar hobby.

I love padrons and I have a couple of the Buc Z's kicking around that I have yet to try. So tonight I went out on my deck and smoked a padron 3000 followed by the Buc Z. Though It's hard to compare anything to the distinctive flavor of a padron I definatly could taste a similarity. I think the bashing of drmaddvibe was unwarranted to say the least.

Rasdas, thanks, I am guilty of the sin of assumption.

Let me restate re Belinda Black and Padron:

Blenders from the same expatriate Cuban family.

Marked similarity in appearance, from band to color to shape and light box press.

Still the only suggestion I have heard or read for a cheap cigar that has similarities to Padron.

PS Dave, you asked too soon! Wait until the Mad one and I have clashed again (and we will, because we have on several previous threads. I seem to enjoy egging him on). Or wait until he says something to insult Jon@CAO and Jon lights into him. 😉

Kaz, that thread wasn't an insult to Jon, and I didn't think he took it like that either if he has skin as thin as yours too...oh well, too bad. Get a helmet, you're going to need it! All I did was point out a lesser known fact that most of CAO's brands weren't made by them and that they don't deserve the "high" ratings they get in Ca when the REAL makers struggle to break 80! As far as other suggestions, there are plenty in this thread.

Belinda's vs Padron...that's like Henry Ford vs. Edsel Ford. Thanks for showing us that really bad example.

WOW! Just read the whole thread and didn't mean to cause so much controversy. I have smoked at least 150 different brands and lines of cigars, but I have never found anything even remotely like the taste of Padrons. If they weren't so expensive, I would smoke them all the time. But thanks to all BOTL who had suggestions. By the way, anyone with any extra Padron X000 can send them my way 😉
