WOW, that's a lot of stature for only 4 months in country. Then, as his squadron commader said, "he bugged out"..., he didn't mean it in a nice way.

Kerry's third wound was an accidental, self inflicted one. He was firing a mortar at some rocks and was either hit with a piece of rock or shrapnel from the ricochet. They weren't in action at the time. It weas simple boredom that soldiers try to break with having fun. I don't condemn it having done it myself.

The resultant wound was a scratch. But, 3 Purple Hearts and you're out of there. Can't blame him for that, either. Its only sensible to get the f%$k out of a war zone. He spent the rest of his time as an Admiral's aide.

But to build this into some great heroic figure, that's quite a stretch, no pun intended.

Did Bush get a purple heart for that laceration on the inside of his nose from the straw? Oh wait, guess he would have to have been in the military to get the medal. Too bad, I guess he just got the buzz.

but Bush was in the military, you should pay closer attention.

oh, and Bush isn't a capain, he's Commander in Chief.

IMO, I think you should actually show up to be considered "in the military". But that's just me.

It's a shame that so many of Kerry's fellow "fast boat" commanders and senior officers aren't supporting him. As a matter of fact, they are openly opposing him as incompetent. Go figure... I guess those military field officers, generals, etc. don't really know what they're doing or talking about.

Wait a minute... could it be because he came back home a disgraced them by calling all of them "war criminals" and accusing the of "war atrocities"?? I guess so.

One last little tid-bit, Kerry's boat in the caricature has Senate Service as one of its attributes. Kerry's Senate Service has been anything but stellar. His only consistent has been on his liberal sided votes against anything remotely pro-military, pro-tax reform or pro-intelligence systems and agencies. Add this to his other consistent virtue of late (which is to flip-flop on every issue from the war in Iraq to abortion to the qualifications of Supreme Court Justices and one can see why he is hardly fit to serve as Commander In Chief.

Maybe it was that Senate service that's the reason he skipped 20 years in his speech. Gee, if I had been in the Senate 20 years, I'd be proud of it. But then, I wouldn't have missed 38 of 49 Senate intelligence meetings while assigned to the committee.

I can't understand why everyone is wild to elect this self-admitted "war criminal" (stated before the Senate hearing April 19, 1971 & Meet the Press April 22, 1971). But then they are still awful exciteed by a draft dodger, but then military experience didn't matter just 8 years ago, the ultimate failure to "show up".
