I know you have the CI catalog. But i was wondering if you have ever thought of implementing a "BUY IT NOW" option like you see on EBAY?

I might be looking at this sight all wrong, but it just seems like a good thing for everyone.???????

That pretty much would make CigarBid like all the rest, and alter the 'uniqueness' of this place ... and could take the fun out of the 'auction' action for many.

Heck, you've gota good bid going, then all of a sudden someone just comes along and outright 'buys' it right out from under you ... :^(

Sorry, but I'm not so hot on the idea ...

I was watching the bidding on a lot of three five packs. The bid was at 17 when someone decided to "buy it now" (and pay more than he had to), and threw up a bid of 25. The lot closed at 25, 21, and 19, with the bid of 19 going up AFTER the bid of 25.

There is no need to add the "Buy it Now" because it is already built into the auction. You can throw up a bid that is just under retail, but higher than a lot has ever sold for because that is where the "buy it now" price would be set. But only if you are determined to pay more than necessary, in order to save a little work and eliminate the fun of the auction process.

Noooo....Let's not mess with a good thing. I agree with the others, that would make this company and website one step closer to being like everybody else.(Besides it would adversely affect all of us cheap smokers looking for the good deals.) Besides, isn't it fun and tittilating to sit there and watch your bid for a few days as people try to outbid you at the last moment and the adrenaline rush you get when you come out with a winning bid on the item!!?? That's part of what makes me come back to this site time after time.

Jeff,

What they all said!

Seriously, we're always considering new things and new ways to improve the site. I'll be sure to add this to our list of suggestions.

On ebay......once a bid has been made, the buy it now option expires..... so you either buy it now, or join the bidding once the action starts......I prefer the bidding wars.....great deals can be had with patience.....

If you have a Buy It Now, once someone puts in a bid to auction, the Buy It Now feature is removed; that's the way EBay does it. It just give the 1st bidder the choice of paying top price or taking a chance at auction.

Just a thought

Couldn't you just "Buy it now" at CI?

I know that some auctioned items aren't on CI (I'm bidding on a five pack falling into that catagory now), but the "Buy it now" feature seems redundant.

Skatty,

I was reading this and couldn't believe that no one could see the obvious that you stumbled upon.

"BUY IT NOW" = buy it at CI. I'm quite sure that, for the most part their's are what the prices would be.

TRISH,

Please put this idea in the round file. I believe it is likely that you would lose many customers, including myself if this were to happen.

Thanks

Nope, don't like it, don't like it a bit. You're stupid and should be shot. I mean that in a nice way, I'm sure you understand.

I agree with sketcha, to the round file! Any variation to how we bid now would cause me to go straight to CI and not waste any time here at the one and only, . . . Great CBid!!

Now if we could only get them matches up for auction? I might get some, heheheeeee!!!

Think the demand for matches is high enough that I should consider auctioning my supply ???

Just don't do it here, steve. That's against CBid policy. { =^ )

I agree with what everyone is saying. I just wanted to throw it out there for discussion. I hadent seen anyone ask about such a thing so i thought id ask. Thats all it was.

Sketcha,

I didnt take offense. I had stated that i was aware of CI's catalog. Like i said i just wanted to get some opinions on it. I love the way things are. If it aint broke dont fix it. But sometimes people try to build a better mouse trap.

I come to CBid to answer all the "Overbidding" threads in a polite and caring manner.:-*

Yo Yo Ma and his shiny plastic cello never hurt anyone either.

How about combining CI/CBID shipping? This would give you your 'Buy it now' option without messing with the CBID feel.

Jeff,

Glad to hear it. Just wanted to be sure.

Squid,

This has been brought up before, by myself among others. CBid has made it clear that they are a seperate entity. I have my guesses as to the reasons why, but I don't think this is the place to discuss them.
