i could definitely use 'em!

a friend of mine (single mom in need of the $ for her 2 boys' school clothes and christmas gifts) and i want to try our hands at making cigar box purses to sell at upcoming craft fairs locally.

if you have nice boxes just sitting around, talk to me and let's see if we can work out a trade of some kind.

i can probably work up a couple of cigar trades, but other trades are very, very welcome, too.

a couple ideas for instance, since the holidays are coming up -- if you have someone in your life who'd like one, you could send boxes and get a cigar box purse back in return. i also make nice, high-quality beaded necklaces (beads are glass or semi-precious metals and stones) that i could custom make for your loved ones in exchange for boxes we can use.

if you're interested, let's work something out! BBELTRISI at ec.rr.com (use all caps for the first part, or it might not go through).

I looked, but I only have crappy boxes laying around. I keep refilling the nice boxes with loose sticks.

i hear ya, mrtelcom! i'm really amazed at how nice some cigar makers' boxes are, like works of art. i guess i'm a recycle-head, but i love stuff that comes with packaging that can be re-used, and cigar boxes have always been like rare treasure to me.

when i was a kid, my godfather would give me his empty cigar boxes, and i was in heaven. lol stored my hot wheelz in one, crayons in another. we'd incorporate them into our play all the time -- GI Joe's secret hideout... a stick and a string added to one, and we were sure we could catch wild animals... lol

a couple of plain old boxes i got at a local cigar shop i made into treasure boxes for my friend's two boys -- i successfully passed the flame on to them; they LOVED 'em.

i've got a couple of boxes i can use for the purse-making effort. i wanted to give them to the boys, and someday when i'm able to buy boxes myself i'm sure i'll pass many of them along for them to be creative with -- but for now, they'll benefit from them in other ways. maybe not as fun as having the coolest crayon storage unit around, but they'll get some clothes, shoes, etc. that they definitely need (at 8 and 11, they're growing like weeds! lol)
