Does anyone out there have a walk in humidor in their residence? I have thought very serious on this matter and was wondering a round about cost for the conversion and where one obtained the proper equipment for this conversion. A room of 10X12 or even 12X14 is what I am looking at. Plan on building in a few years and plans are to design a walk in humidor/smoking room/ office for the house which I hope will be a log cabin to accentuate the mountain views. I know, that sounds a little idiotic but I always wanted my own little smoking room/walk in humidor/office with wet bar so I could get away from life's daily troubles with a big screen t.v., and yes the wife....not that I don't care for her but let's face it guys.....we need our alone time to unwind. Once again....feedback welcomed.

I jumped the gun a bit....the wife is yet to be but in September my single life is over at the age of 30! Good news is that she likes to take a puff off my cigars all the time.....me, I find that very appealing, I know what your thinking....pervert! I have issues please help with them guys.....thanks!

Cant help you with any estimates on costs but may I suggest throwing a party and inviting all your CB forum buddies to break your new room in.. good luck with your plans..

I've seen kits on the Net for walk-in humi's. Also there are humidification units available on the web. Most are found at commercial sites for retail humidors. My guess is you could build it for under $10,000 probably much less if you did the work yourself. I plan on converting a 5x7 walk-in closet (someday.....) Do your research and i'm sure you will find what you need to know.

and please, after you have done all the research, allow us to have the fruits of your labor in a detailed report! I think it is every cigar smoker's deep down dream to have a a walk-in humidor. I was thinking about doing a walk-in closet I have, but you made me think big, a combination walk-in humidor, office, smoking area, bar, entertainment room! You say you need this to get away to unwind, but if I had a place like this, I would never come back! I would come out one day and feel like I was in a time warp, my kid would be from crawling to entering college, my wife's new husband would probably be in the next room, my how things can change.

Thanks guys for the input. Once complete, we are talking about 3-5 years down the road. I will invite all who wish to celebrate this joyous event to come on down to the NC mountains have a drink on me, smoke a good stogie, and sit back in a leather couch that is so plush it feels like a babies butt to the touch. I love the planning but I can't wait until it is complete!

Have found a possible alternative to the dilemma. A nice presentation case with built in state of the art humi system from Vigilantinc. Great looking products with a hefty price tag!
