I keep in the basement, next to the back of the furnace, a large, deep ("sweater box" or whatever you want to call it) from The Container Store. I call it my ContainerStorador. It's 16 x 25 x 12 inches deep, "clear plastic", so you can see your hygrometer and contents without opening the lid. The lid snaps at both ends, but does not snap around the sides, it just snuggly hugs the lip. I don't think it is air leak proof at all, but I have found that you don't need "leak proof" for a good environment. I have the bottom of a plastic liter bottle filled with about 1 1/2 inches of Climmax beads sitting on the bottom. I add a cap full of distilled water to the media every week or two (depending on the humidity reading). You may need more media surface exposed than I do if it's very damp there, but it does a very good job. I've had this setup for a winter and a summer in a Chicago suburb now and it stays 70 degrees plus or minus 2 and humidity is 65 to 71 percent dry winter and humid summer. It just occurred to me that we do run a small dehumidifier on the other end of the basement in the summer (when it's running... half the time it's shut off because it's filled). This was a very inexpensive way to go and it gives me plenty of storage for boxes, singles, and five packs. Well, I may need a second one soon.
