I just purchased one of those old Coleman upright coolers for a cooleridor. I saw pics of some of the ones made by you folks and they looks so handy and what a great idea. Picked it up cheap (shipping was more than the cooler) can't wait to start building some spanish cedar shelves for it. Whoooo Hoooo... I'm on my way now boys!

jd, hint: if you store your boxed cigars in it, and they are in cedar boxes, you can put your singles in either lift out trays that come in some boxes (think Torano 1959Exodus Gold, or Reserva Selectas) or empty boxes, or in plastic trays stacked on top of your boxed gars!

What Foster said, though singles don't need boxes as long as there are other cedar boxes in there.

Sometimes you don't want the cigar to pick up cedar so it retains it's intended taste (though probably rarely), but cedar is also used to help retain constant humidity. In this case, several boxes in there will help accomplish this.

If you do build your shelves out of cedar, I would remind you to put holes or slots in them.

Have fun. I love mine, but slight temp. problems in my area necessitate a fridgidor.

Sooooon.

Thanks for the info.

The one I purchased does not come with any shelves (maybe why is was cheap) so I thought I would just make some slotted shelves out of spanish cedar to store the singles on, and leave the bottom half or 3/4ths for boxes. I live in a basement apartment so the temp is pretty steady 73 degrees plus or minus a couple of degrees all year long. Can't wait to fill it, I will post some pics when it has arrived and is finished.

I'd still want shelves for the boxes so you don't have to dig. They would also need slots.
