Well, I know Erik posted his review recenlty, but I'll go ahead and toss mine out also. Smoked it last night. Ok, I really wanted to do a very detailed review of my first Taboada Dom Perignon, but alas, it was not meant to be. This cigar just can’t be put into words. I’ll provide the insufficient notes I was able to take, but it just doesn’t do this cigar justice. BTW, I only sipped water as I wanted to fully taste every puff, and taste it I did!

Taboada Custom Rolled Dom Perignon (Churchill)

Rolled in LCDH Tijuana - I think about a month ago

This legendary cigar just looks delicious. Dark, wrinkly wrapper with tons of tooth. Firm bunch and a slight yield. Smells very unique - sweet and spicy. Pre-lit draw is perfect. Took the flame immediately and I carefully lit it w/o touching it to my lips.

The first puff was pure joy. Began light but with a full twangy tobacco flavor. Quickly developed with sharp spice and a clean finish. From the very beginning this cigar is the most complex I’ve ever smoked. All sorts of nuances dance around your palate - toasty tobacco, sweet spice, and nuts. Then later I tasted some fruit and herbal qualities. The burn was perfect the whole way down and the ash was very white and held about 1.5 inches. It developed more spice and I later tasted a strong coffee flavor as well as cocoa and vanilla. It also got very rich and smooth and always had a clean finish.

That’s about as much detail as I can get. I usually can identify a lot of flavors in a cigar - but there were very many that I just couldn’t nail down. It seemed that after every three puffs or so it developed and changed. The flavors were very vibrant and the cigar tasted “alive”. It’s just not possible to put it all in words - as I knew it would be. Thank God I have one more - but I can’t decide to smoke it or age it (my lack of willpower may not give me the choice....)

How do you score some of these? I've heard wonderful reviews from everyone that has had one, but I haven't ever seen them for sale.

Al'thor,

Awesome review! That's an incredible cigar - full of finesse and flavor. I've never had the original so I can't compare. But... the Taboada DP is the best cigar I've ever had.
