I am going to be in the Jacksonville and Tampa areas next week for a couple of days while doing job interviews. I probably won't have a lot of time, but are there some cigar related places that I shouldn't miss while I'm down there? Thanks in advance.

Forget about Jax. It's one big sprawling and very boring city.

My last rip to Tampa was really sweet. Besides getting to hang out with DrMaddVibe, I also met Robert Spoden (Bucanero Cigar) and the Arturo Fuentes (father and son) in Ybor City. There are several nice shops in Ybor and plenty of restaurants. It's a great place to have dinner then follow it up with a cigar at one of the sidewalk cafes.

Unless they have changed in the past 3 years, they are a cigar friendly place.

If you can make it to Orlando, stop in at "Cigars on the Walk" at City Walk. Great smokes, great drinks, great people.

Unfortunately, you can't smoke in the Columbia any more. Damn Florida tobacco nazis!! But you can still get a great meal there and they still have a cigar roller working in the gift shop.

my BTOLs from Jax,

please enlighten me. i've lived in jax for 3 years. you mentioned something about great beaches. well, huguenot park has decent beaches, decent. you want a great one, you at least gotta motor down to daytona. fishing, well some places are okay but not on the st. john's river, with all that crap floating on it. golf here is great but our BOTL who posted the original thread doesn't seem to have much time for this.

i think tampa is still the way to go

dj - I tried out your suggestion and the place was great. I wish we had someplace like that up where I'm from.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely check out Ybor City while I'm in Tampa...that's a given. I'll be there for a couple of days. Well, off to my first interview.

alxaps try jax beach or Fernandina beach. They are both fine in my opinion. Maybe we could get a jax herf going here someday.

nwb glad I could help out. Let us know how ybor treats ya.

i kinda like huguenot better than jax beach, fernandina is ok. i don't know if you'll agree but hannah park is said to be good. a future herf in jax would be cool.

Definately sneak away to Ybor(pronounce it E-bore or they will know yer not a local.) You might get a once in a lifetime chance to roll a real cigar with a torcedor.....................................................................................................................http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/forum/forum.cfm?action=list&forumID=7&messageDisplay=0000000024222

I went to Ybor today and checked out the local shops, and then I went to the Columbia. What a great place! I got to what the torcedors and bought a couple of cigars. Anybody know where a good place to go to have a drink and a cigar? This is my last night in town, so if anyone wants to get a little mini-herf going, let me know.
