I went ahead a bit on one of these in the toro size. I should receive them tomorrow, but I was just wondering how much humi time they need to round out? I searched previous posts and it seemed that the general consensus was to age them (although I'll definitely try them early on).

Whatever you do, don't try them right away, you'll toss them in the trash can. 1 year in humi IMHO.

Opinions, as they say, are like (deleted) ... everybody's got one.

Good friend of mine has yet to age a single one of these 6 months ... he even likes 'em right off the truck ... and, I've got anuther good friend who won't go near them at any age ...

Best thing to do is smoke one here and one there as they age and take note of the changes ... if you see that you won't have enough so you'll still have one or two after a year, you can always buy another wheel right away ... and worst case, if you find you can't stand 'em, you're learning the identity of some guys that'd probably be willing to swap for 'em.

Thanks for the info guys. I kinda went crazy last night and won a bid of the Perdomo 2 Milenario Mistakes Maduro and a bundle of the Perdomo Cuban Cafe mistakes in figurado. What are your suggestions for these?

I'd smoke 'em ...

Actually, my take is that ANY cigar is improved with a bit of aging ... there IS a point at which the improvement seems to stop and they begin going downhill, but that varies widely from one cigar to another and probably has a lot to do with individual storage as well as the type of tobacco, etc ...

I think you really begin to see a big difference after 3 or 4 months and that the improvement continues for well more than a year ...

One of my favorite daily smokes, is the Milenario Maddie.

The Mistakes are supposed to be the same blend, without the box press. I would imagine they would be a good daily smoke, as well. I would give them a couple of weeks to stablize and smoke one. Only you will know if they need more age on them.

Have a great day.

brew ... I know for a fact that they're the same cigar without box pressing

nwb,

try to score a fiver of the regular P2 Milenario and compare to the mistakes. I did that with the Cammies which I really like. For me, it's hard to tell the difference and I prefer the round shape over the box press. I haven't tried the maduros yet, so If you're interested, we could swap a fiver of your maddies and my cammies.

I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree with my colleague, SteveS.

While I completely agree that MOST cigars benefit with age (to a point, as he said), some are meant to be smoked fresh. If these are the Perdomo FRESH Wheels, then I can tell you that they are better OTT, or at least within a couple a' months.

I've had a few and they were O.K., but my tastes (unfortunately for my pocketbook) have become more discerning (spoiled) so I forgot about them for awhile. I just sparked one up last week with somewhere between 6 mos. and a year of age and it was just aweful. Maybe with another several years they will come around a bit, but for now they will remain in my Dog Rocket desktop.

I believe Limoric would tell you the same thing.

I decided to go ahead and give one of the Fresh Rolled a try today in between tornados here in GA. The taste was promising with a very floral taste and aroma, but it was almost completely plugged, and it had an uneven burn. Anyone else have these same problems? And do these gain a little kick as they age? I'm going to give them a month to rest and then give a second one a try. I can't wait until next week when I get my Cuban Cafe mistakes and the P2 Milenarios mistakes.

Sounds like they could still be wet from shipping. Usually the taste is rough, but not always.

I'd say give 'em a month.

Perdomos are all good, even the "mistakes"! Enjoy them now! Wheels I believe do better with age, but are good cigars.

Note: I haven't looked at the specific auction in question, but bought a bundle of the CC Figurados myself! They are not "Mistakes" or "Seconds" but Overruns. First quality cigars that exceeded sales demand for the size/line. Instead of investing in the bands and box, Perdomo sells them as unbanded bundles to CI/Cbid at a huge discount! The Mistakes ARE mistakes which has been pointed out, are first quailty which was not box pressed as is the standard for this line, otherwise, there are no blemishes or imperfections on the wrapper or anything else. 🙂

PLEASE!

At least a year(minimum)--preferably in the backyard compost--YECH!

Only Perdomo I could tolerate was the Rosado & those were usually plugged.

Yes I would agree. I bought some Toro's 18 months ago and loved the first couple I smoked. Don't know why, but after 6 mo they turned real bad. I sparked one up a month ago after giving them another year, same thing only worse. No resemblence to tobacco at all.

I've gotten a couple of 5 packs of the Fresh Rolled Wheels (Corona and Torps) last month. Smoked one and it wasn't bad. Not great but not horrible. Keep in mind, tastes are all relative. If you like them, then who's to say your wrong. The rest of mine are napping and I'll try them now and again (based on what others have said in this thread, I should get crackin'). I'll need a greater "body of work" before I'll commit these to my buy or not buy again status.

As for the Perdomo Overruns, I like these. I've won some Coronas and some Figurados. In my opinion, they are pretty nice everyday smokes. I like the taste, they burn nice, good cloud of smoke... The only negative is every now and again I run into one that's plugged. Usually the knot is near the cap so I just trim it back and continue to puff.

I’m not a seasoned vet and I like to try different sticks. I’ll keep smoking what I like even if others poo poo it.
