...created equal? I know Lava is #1 but no one has it now and no word on when it will be available.

Regarding the 3x butane, are they all the same? Colibri? Vector? King?

Amatuer question....sorry.

I've been purchasing Lucienne at an area smokeshop for $3.00/13 oz can. Haven't had any problems.

Billy, the Asian company (Pyrotechnic)that used to sell Lava is apparently in financial trouble. They are currently not supplying their distributors and communications with them is rather odd and cryptic.

If you can find botls who know where to find remnants of their product, JUMP on it!

In the meantime, I have opted to throw out my troublesome Colibri butane and replaced it with another 3X refined product called King. This butane fuel is a vast improvement over Colibri which used to clog my lighters.

Good luck.

To answer your question Billy, regardless of the brand name, all butane fuels are used for a common purpose.

However, they are not all the same. Some have different refinement processes while others use different "recipes" to produce the final product.

I was looking into what Bloody had said about 'King' ... and if you go to their website, they have a carton on sale now for $19.99 for 12 6 oz. cans (normally $47).

Lava is the best, hands-down, but right now it is nearly impossible to find ...

^ What slim said. I bought a carton of 12 myself.

Calypso (possibly the largest distributor of Lava) also sells King. Let me know if you need an address.

BTW, the recipe for all 3x butane is not the same. The refining process is similar but the quality/mixture of gas plays a large part.

Unbeknownst to me, I threw out more than one perfectly good lighter on account of Colibri and Ronson (ugh!!). I thought that it was the lighter's fault, even though I air-cleaned them, etc.

Live & learn.

Thanks for the info on King. I just bought a 12 pack, a little steep on the shipping though.

The King brand is exactly why I asked the question. It seems to be much cheaper than the Colibri, et. al so that's why I asked if they were "created equal." Sounds like King is gonna be my choice if I don't get my mitts on some LAVA.

Thanks, gentlemen.
