If it only took 'steroids' or 'performance-enhancing supplements' to hit home runs, then why is Bonds only the 3rd member of the 700HR club???

You mean to tell me that Bonds is the ONLY guy to have allegedly taken steroids?! PUH-leaze. It takes a lot more, i.e., SKILL, timing, eyesight, etc. Hitting a fastball has gotta be one of the most difficult tasks in all of professional sports.

PS - If all it takes is steroids, then take a bodybuilder and see how quickly they hit 700 HRs - doubtful it would happen!

Obviously, it takes more than steroids, but you can't discount the contribution of strength-enhancement drugs to hitting the long ball. The game has changed in the last 30 years or so. The ball players these days make so much money that they can afford all the best training technology which includes supplements and machines. Barry Bonds has been a good hitter for a while. It's hard to ignore the one year surge in his HR numbers, though. I think he probably juiced, but I don't care. Mark was on andro which is like steroids "lite". Sammy was on creatine (sp?). Like I said, the game has changed. I never liked Bonds' attitude in the past, but he's changed a lot since he's been so successful lately.

I say congrats on a feat that is very difficult to accomplish. I also say good-bye to baseball as it was when it was a little bit better.

They have to be able to hit the ball, this is one of the hardest things to do in all of sports, hit a baseball thrown by someone like Roger Clemens! I am no fan of Bonds, in fact I dislike him, but he is a great player! Do I believe he took Steriods or enhancements? Yes, I do, but like you pointed out, you still have to hit the ball so just doing enhancements will not make someone the next Aaron!

We dont like Barry cuz the media says Bonds is a meanie. So we dont like him either. And he's a cheater too..yeah thats why he sucks he's a meanie and a cheater... And hes lazy yeah lazy. Never mind that he's 40, or how we dont have a clue about baseball or how hard it is to do what hes doing...nor do we listen to his contempories as well as players from the past speak in awe of his abilities....All we know is that hes a meanie and a cheater and thats why we dont like him!
