Thanks,
I kinda had that idea but since I am a relative newbie to this I guess I was looking more for guidance.
I am trying to learn what is good with out smoking a lot of dogs. Sooo, any suggestions?

Well, "good" is in the eye -- or, rather, nose and mouth -- of the beholder.

Perhaps the biggest thing you need to figure out is how strong you like your cigars. Most "new" smokers tend to stick with mild / mild-to-medium sticks, but if you're already a fan of strong-flavored things (dark coffees, complex red wines, etc), you may already be ready for full-bodied 'gars. I started with maduros right off the bat and never looked back. I tend to ditch all my mild/medium cigars as soon as they come in. 🙂

Quite a few novice smokers also seem to gravitate towards flavored smokes, because they're much easier on the palate for some.

There's really so many different smokes and smokers that it's hard to say for sure what you might like.

Oh, here's a big newbie tip:

TAKE YOUR FREAKIN' TIME WITH THE SMOKES!

Your average robusto-sized or so cigar should take you around 30-60 minutes to smoke and contemplate. Bigger cigars need more time, up to 2 hours for a churchill or presidente. Once you get more experienced and realize how the speed and pacing of your puffs affects the heat and flavor profile of the cigar, you can speed up or slow down.

I have a few friends who insist on chugging the things down; one of them demolished a Brazilia Gol! in about 25-30 minutes then had the gall to complain about 1) being nauseous and 2) that the smoke was "too strong". Well!

Is there something wrong with me that I like a wide variety of strengths and flavors? While I favor the larger rings and longer lengths, otherwise I like to experiment. Probably cause I'm relatively new to the better grades of cigars? Is it typical for people to settle on one company/brand/strength?
I'm feeling my way around, trying to learn about trading and cigars in general. Do I "churn" the humidor by pulling the bottom sticks up to the top? Will storing different brands together muddle the flavor? (I don't store flavored or botanicals with anything else or each other). Since I'm mostly sampling at this point, I have only purchased a couple of boxes. The remainder has been 5-packs and samplers. While this is a good way to experience a variety, does it leave me at a disadvantage for trading?
Thanks for any tips or help.
