Send the Xikar back and they will replace it. No Questions.

dp, get some rivets and put the handle back on the yellow one.

Cut them to length, stick them in, use a center punch to spread them to fill the back side. Works every time.

Good to see Colibri quality has improved. Does the Colibri have a lifetime warranty?

I like Rick's suggestion. By 4 so you always have one while the others are being sent back to be fixed.

Or just by a Palio.

That Xikar looks identical to two of my three...the third one I lost. Their warranty is great, but it was kind of annoying to have to keep sending them in. I guess if I bought ten of them and just rotated them between using and the mail I would do alright. I love my Palio, and my LP9.

#22 Pliny,

I plan on riveting the Colibri, and tightening up the other rivets. Sure not going to toss it. I will say that the Colibri holds up to being dropped much better than the Xikar.

I could fix the Xikar myself if I could get the pivot screws apart. Put a screwdriver on both sides and turn it forever and they don't back out. Either it's a press fit or mine's stripped.

Go order a "Hippo-tex" cutter on C-bid, they look and WORK GREAT!

If you send it back to Xikar or see the rep.......

DON'T EVEN MENTION that you dropped it @ 2 feet onto concrete. That may be the one thing they don't cover

"dumbo mistakes".

I bought one of those yellow colibri grips and had high hopes (not used yet). I'll treat it with kid gloves after reading these posts.

I shouldn't be surprised it's crap because colibri makes it and their lighters suck.

Had my CI Colibri cutter grips fall off on one side a couple of weeks ago. Was on a road trip, reached in my pocket, all the allen nuts and screws on one side and the top had fallen out. Found a couple of the screws in my pocket, otherwise everything else was missing in action. When I got home I cut #10 copper wire to appropriate lengths, placed the yellow laminated handle pieces back in place, and peened and punched the whole smish back together. Solid as a rock now and working better than ever. A tad ugly for the wear, but function over form......... {:-)

I've got #2 Xigars and they do tend to fall apart when dropped, but at least they are good at honoring their warranty. I got a palio a few weeks ago and it's my new favorite cutter. They are much sturdier and make a cleaner cut than the Xigars.

Move away from the plastic ones and get the scissors...
