I am having a hell of a time trying to effectively refill the cheapie lighters that I have purchased here.

does the thing recharge well and last for a while between charges?

While many would debate the quality of these lighters, and they do have many in the lower price range (CB auctions do not count) ... many of the high-end ones are fairly pricey!

In fact ... they just acquired S.T. Dupont ...

Also, it is recommended to 'bleed' almost all 'jet-torch' lighters between refills ... by holding down the fill nozzle with a pen tip or paper clip to get excess air out of the chamber ...

... I've never had a lick of trouble with any of my Colibri lighers, and I own several, from the 'cheapie' Firebird, up to the Trifecta.

Slim, I don't have a Colibri. All I have are cheapies... I was not calling the Colibri a cheapy.

My problem is that, when I go to refill, I can't get them to fill up... I can only get a couple of lights out of them. Maybe the key is to bleed them like you say.

i have same problems. I cant even start to tell you how many times i just threw out a cheapie cause after i refill it - its a pain in the arse.

=======================================================That is almost undoubtedly the cause of the problem ... first refill, bleeding the pressure is an absolute must, otherwise you'll never get fluid in ... even the residual of the factory fill-up is too much pressure for a refill can to overcome ... even on subsequent fill-ups, you're better advised to bleed the excess pressure in order to get the lighter to accept more fluid ...

I'll tell you what I love this thing. I got it for $29.95 and it was brand new in the box. The sticker on the back says $69.50. If anybody wants the guys info. drop me a line. I can't tell you for sure if he'll sell anymore at that price but you can sure ask him. chris @ Gunflint.com
