Picture wasn't quite as clear as I had hoped. These are the new Romeo y Julieta Hermoso No. 2 Edicion Limitada 2004. Box code is August 2004 so I'll let them get six months or so before I break one out.

The RyJ Hermanos #2 EL was awesome. The draw (with which I've found problems in other RyJ) was perfect. The cigar started out a little harsh with strong flavours of coffee and cocoa... almost burned in flavor. After the first inch, it settled into a intense flavour of spicy pine nuts and a more mellowed cocoa and coffee taste... very smooth and very tasty. Halfway through the power and flavour kicked up a notch... not harsh though... just more pronounced... the perfect Cuban flavour profile with the characteristic twang. The last 1/4 began to taste acrid and very harsh with ammonia flavours which were bitter and unpleasant... but I continued on. The last 1 1/2 inches again mellowed in flavour but increased in strength. I was almost nauseous by the end... but it was a good sick at your stomach feeling!

I should have eaten a big dinner before I smoked this puppy. All in all, it was a delightful experience and I will move these cigars to the top of the list.... except I'm going to put them in the humi for about another six months before I try another one. I feel that aging will blend these prounounced flavours into a much more consistent and pleasurable cigar.

Cheers,

The only thing better than the Hermoso #2 are the #1's.
The best of the EL's with little or no humi time on them. (IMO)
