I recently craved a Hoyo De Monterrey (mad rothchild)enough to go buy one at my local tobacconist shop. He got out the box for me to choose one and I noticed that there were the banded ones I was used to as well as unbanded ones in celophane that looked suspiciously like the hoyo seconds I like to get bundles of. When I asked, they told me they were all the same and same price. Does it sound like my suspisions are right? Are these guys pawning off seconds as premiums? Or am I just being paranoid?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I have never seen an unbundled premium cigar sold at retail unbanded.

Damn it now Im amember of the return too fast club too. Dont think ive had the double mauro rookie. sounds good though. Still semms odd and confusing for a cigar manufacturer to put both nude, banded and celophaned, unbanded cigars into the same box. I certainly wont be losing any sleep over it though. I mean its common knowledge that most tobacconists will overcharge you if they can. With the exception of this one in Grand Junction CO. that is.

I may be wrong but I do not believe a manufacturer would put banded, unbanded, celloed and uncelloed in the same box. They are most likely consolidating there stock into one box. Although this does make you think of deception, they could just be making room in the dor....hopefully anyway.

I've never seen the cigars mixed in the same box, but I have seen the HDM Maduro and Oscuro in boxes of 50 that come unbanded and cellophaned.
