catch and release? No way. Bass fishing is for eating.

I only catch and release when fishing for carp. Much much better fight then a bass. And I feel like I've accomplished something after I release them. With a bass, you release it and it's no big deal. At least that's how I am.

Dude! I'm all about the catch and release. It takes a 5lb bass about 10 years to get that big up here in the northeast. I just don't have the heart to kill something that has dodged all those bullets and made it though so many New england winters.

I will eat bass that some one else cooks but I will only keep them if I am fishing an overpopulated pond then I only keep the smaller ones. Crappie, catfish, walleye, whitebass thems for eatin.

Like you said, 10 yrs. to make 5 lbs. up north. Down here that fish you're holding would weigh well over 10 lbs.! In your neck of the woods that's a trophy fish.

Oh my F-ing GOODNESS!!! Dude... I used to fish that lake as a kid!! We swam in it, jumped out of trees into it, fished it, ice fished it, skated on it... I lived about 2 miles away from it for most of my life.

Belville and Silver Spring is where I did most of my fishing. Silver Spring was always stocked with trout and they opened the season every year on the second saturday in april. My buddies and I would always be there at about 3:30 am.

Wow... memories.

By the way... that is a pretty damn big bass for such a short growing season in RI.

MACS..both places are right down the street from me. That picture is on the back part of the pond where you take the boat under the small foot bridge and have to duck.

Over populated lake???? Never seen one. I have bass tourney fished all around PA, MD, DE and have not been lucky enough to find too many in one lake. I know how you feel about a 5 pounder, far and few between around here.

They were from me too. I lived on West Allenton Road. There are a few ponds over by the High School in NK where there are some pretty damn big bass. You gotta get a little muddy to get to them, but if you're a bass fisherman... mud is no obstacle!

I wish I was there too... As I said, I grew up fishing that area and I could show YOU some primo spots!!

I'm still dumbfounded... what a SMALL world.
