I think the reason why she's in hell is because the position of the First Lady is a non-paying job.

I mean, when you go from a job that pays you in excess of $300,000.00 for a made-up position on the staff (because your husband is a US senator) to zip in the course of an election, you're in for a bit of a let-down.

I guess her husband will have to run for a different office if she wants to secure paid employment once more.
