It probably cost something like $6.00 to fill those gas tanks with 120 octane Sunoco 260.

Ahhhhhhhh . . .the good old days, back when racing was fun.

Slap on a Holley 4 barrell and a set of headers, and you were good to go.

Brings back great memories. Ran a 39 chevy with a 348 motor in c/ gas in 1965. The car would scare the **** out of me with the straight axle and what they called suspension & tires in those days. Then ran a big block 66 chevelle in SS/B until 1970. Still screw around ever once in a while (just for fun) in the nostalgia class with a small block 34 Ford 5 window coupe or a custom 65 Vette.

"it probably cost something like $6.00 to fill those gas tanks with 120 octane Sunoco 260".

I was just watching a Bogart movie where he stops in a high desert gas station, tells the guy to fill it up, and check the water, and check the oil and then, when the guy is finished Bogey hands hin a fiver and the guy counts back two dollars and twenty cents. When I was a kid and I got to fill the car up, I remember wondering what it would be like if the 'Cost' numbers spun faster than the 'Gallons' numbers. Oh crap! It's my fault that fuel prices are so high.

In 1964, yeah I know I'm old but.... regular gas was 27.9 cents a gal and prem was 29.9 cents a gal. except for the Amoco high test and Sunoco 260 they were around 32.9 cents a gal.

Back in my Jersey days the Kayo Station had regular leaded for 19.9 cents per gallon.

I used to fuel up on my trips to Bordentown Armory for my USARNG weekends and

Cadre nights back in 66-74, before moving to FL.
