It's called being for Right or wrong...

I just find it odd how the majority of folks are pro one and anti the other. or vice versa

Makes sense to me that if one believes in the sanctity of life that killing someone in the death penalty is inconsistent. Or, if you do not believe in the sanctity of life (pro-choice) that you ought to be ok with killing a criminal.

Actually, i don't equate the death penalty at all with the abortion issue...I have no issue with the death penalty, only wish it was a faster process... Like, get convicted, an expedited appeal process, then kill the killer..

on the other issue, I wouldn't start a debate here period.... Way too divisive an issue.. I respect both arguments....But have my opinion..

Seems like most of us agree on the death penalty. IMO it's not used enough, and we care too much about it being perfectly painless and "humane".

I still cringe at this comparison.

Every aborted baby was innocent.
It can't even be debated.

Pro-Life.........Pro-Death Penalty

Shouldn't be a real shocker on where I stand.Protect innocent life at all cost.Execute the scumbags among us.Makes perfect sense to me.

Pro-life, Pro-death penalty.

Once gets due process before their termination, the other does not. That is the major distinction...

Unloess the execution occurs quickly, it costs more $$ to jail a death-sentance prisoner than to keep them in prison for the rest of their lives. I also think that the death sentence appealate procedure(s) needs to be streemlined in a major way- or we simply need to just give people life sentences as a matter of expense.

First, that depends how long a prisoner can live in jail. Many of the life-forever types usually get taken out by other means (Jeffery Dahmer comes to mind).

Second, with an executed prisoner, you recidivism rate drops to 0%. Plus, the chance of them ever getting out of prison alive drops to 0% as well.

So, I think of it as money well spent...

on a serious note - I don't get the death penalty anyways.

It's not like killing an offender will bring back the people he or she killed
The prospect of a potential death penalty does not seem to be any form of a deterrent whatsoever
With all the appeals and court proceedings, it costs more to have someone die by death penalty than by just living out their lives in prison
There is always the possibility that an innocent person is killed by death penalty

As far as I can tell, the death penalty is just sanctioned killing by the state.

Well, if limits were restricted to appeals, evidence based appeals and trials would stream-line the process. The quick you kill them, the more of the deterrent. Let see "oh my it won't cost me my life, and in return I get a Free stay, Free food, Free entertainment, and a boy friend awesome sounds like a deal." yep life in prison doesn't seem that bad. Is when people start talking about rehabilitating the convicts, no kill them and move to the next. Just like a slaughter house. Give you bread and water, and one appeal that it. I would say the process should take something like maybe three days if that. Move more crimes to the death penalty level. That way it cost less tax money, more room in jails, and prison, and all that food they consume and go to the homeless since well we're not wasting it on some con. But hey that's MHO.

we are piss-ing away a quadillion dollars a day to keep some gangs from living on some rocks or in some caves, and allowing our citizens to be killed or maimed in afganistan, and some people worry about the cost of incarcerating or executing convicted murderers. american logic at it's finist.

put the convicted killer in solitary for the rest of his life. no books, no radio, no tv,. a cyanide capsule his only entertainment.

I am pro choice as long as there is CERTAINTY that
the zygote/embryo/whatever does not yet have a human soul. 🤔

I am also pro death penalty given same standard of certainty of guilt.

In the oldest religions, as well as the Hindu and Tibetan faith, the human soul does not enter the body until the 49th day after conception. This is further made curious by the fact that it is on the 49th day after conception that the fetus is distinguishable as male or female, and this is also the day the very first dream occurs in the small brain. Seems to be a lot of evidence that our minds at least don't work with conscious thought until 7 weeks. So run with that I guess. I'm still against abortion though. As well as the death penalty. I cannot justify taking another life.

Even if they raped and mutilated your wife, daughter, mother....etc.

In that case, yes, I would justify killing them. However I would do it myself most likely out of passion. State sponsored executions are not something I want my government to have the authority to do. They are not killing the criminal for me, they are killing him/her for themselves, and I'll be damned if I'll let ANY government use ME or MY FAMILY as an excuse to execute another living soul. And that's exactly what it is....using my loss as a means to kill. No thanks.

If it would serve as a deterrent from it happening even ONE TIME to someone else, and rest assured it will, I'm 150% for it.

In the Christian Bible it states that only a man accused and SEEN killing another innocent man can be executed. It further states that if later, that man is proven innocent, then EVERY SINGLE man that took part in his death must then also be executed for killing an innocent man.

This would include the judge, jury, prosecutors, anyone that testified against him, the police that arrested him, the investigators that wrote the reports, etc.

If each and every one of those people agrees that they will be executed if that man is later proven innocent, then we MIGHT be on track with what the Christian God wants and demands of us. Until then, execution is MURDER in God's eyes, and all of you that are for it, are going to HELL.

There is no way around that. It cannot be explained away. It's the word of God.

How can I be for capital punishment when God says it's wrong?

How can any of you?

^Once again, you take a sprinkling of truth and twist it into a tale of fantasy. The Old Testament (Jewish Scripture) states that if folks bring false witness against an innocent man, they are to suffer the punishment that the innocent would have suffered. So yes, if you where to falsely bring murder charges against someone, and where found out, you would suffer his fate. The rest of your scenario is pure fantasy.

If you knew anything about Scripture, you would know that God has entrusted government with the right to dispense justice. We, as individuals have no right to take life, except in self defense, but government does have the right and duty to do so, when it’s required to protect society and the innocent.

Personally, I don’t like the idea of Capital Punishment, and I wish it wasn’t ever required, but God is God, and I am not.

Now I can’t wait for the next one of your “the Bible says” tall tales.
