"If you lump city, county, state and Federal into a single entity, the answer would be "government". This would apply for all 50 states regardless of tint.

"Government" is now 40% of GDP."

You said no. I just handed you the largest employment numbers for NYC. You can't even find one employer in the state of New York that is larger than New York City alone. I didn't even have to add in the rest of "government" employees statewide.

City of New York (excl schools) — 152,836 employees
NYC Department of Education — 121,255 employees

Even keeping these NYC departments separate, find one employer in the state of New York larger.

This is why people pick on you non-stop here. You have no idea what you're talking about so you think I'm now wasting your time. The enlightened elite act just simply doesn't pass the smell test. Neither does the senior vice president by age 27 line. It takes little to no effort to blow holes in your outrage.

You need to develop a new cover story.

Man, we were having some fun on this thread and Fuzz shows up with his load of crap and tries to spoil it all. Fuzz: How's Obama working out for you? Huh? What's that? He's not living up to hardly anything he promised and took us further in debt than we've ever been.

There....there's some facts for you. It must be wonderful to be a Democrat so full of hope and change........

The percentages that were posted were as a percentage of overall population. Those numbers are large, yes, but the population of NYC is also large. I know math is hard n stuff, but that's how percentages work.

And you don't need to believe the work story, don't care. The VP of marketing was running for mayor and had he won I was offered the job. I got engaged and we decided to move to NJ anyway, so it didn't matter.

Obama has pissed me off a great deal actually. Didn't think I was voting for a Republican light. Not really wonderful being a Democrat actually as the Republicans have moved so far to the right the Democratic party moved along with them. Now the Democratic party is where the regular Republicans were 40 years ago and the Republican party is flirting with Fascism.

As far as the debt is concerned, sure, there is more debt, but honestly he put the Iraq and Afghanistan wars on the books, something the last administration hid with 'emergency' funding year after year that they kept off the official tally. That bumped the debt up by a couple trillion immediately. Another one of those pesky facts.

The entire cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for all the years is less than Obama's stimulus package. The debt didn't bump up by a couple of trillion immediately. You really have no clue what you're talking about.

Yeah, he put the war on the books. But, what war? He promised to pull all the troops and bring them home. In reality, we are no better off now than we were under Bush - in many instances, much worse. Our military people are still dying every day and now we are committed in Libya. Geez.....whatever happened to bringing our troops home and letting other countries take care of themselves.

And, the war was on the "books" before because we were still paying for it. To think the money being spent on war during Bush didn't count towards debt spending is naive. HD was right - math is so not you......

I know you're not happy here on this forum - you've never been too happy here. I'm not sure why you bother to come here because you are always wrong with just about everything you post. You've drank so much of the Koolaid that you have no idea where reality ends and fantasy starts.

No, you're sure Obama put trillions on the books. You have a number you've made up in your head and converted it into fact. You can easily google and find out the actual cumulative cost for the war in Iraq and for the war in Afghanistan. You think Obama's portion is trillions!

But you won't google it.

Yup, I agree with your first paragraph. Exactly why I said he's Republican light. The troops should have been brought home and Gitmo shoiuld have been closed a long time ago.

The financial cost of the wars were hidden from the public under Bush because the administration didn't add them to our debt. Now they are. Of course it's still being spent in either case, but to say that Obama has increased spending all on his own is stupid without taking that into consideration. Nothing naive at all.

Your third and fourth paragraphs are just nonsense.

FuzzNJ wrote:

Wrong again. The financial costs were never hidden. They have always been part of our debt. The costs were just paid for through emergency spending bills instead of being buried in the overall baseline budget. The only thing Obama did is move the costs to the baseline budget.
