So our Governments inability to do ANY thing about the problem, is it because they feel sorry for them and want to give them opportunities they don't have @ home in Mexico while taking away many jobs that Americans would otherwise have any opportunity to have? Or is this an ALL out attempt @ sub planting an all new" Cheaper" workforce in this country who is less likely to ask questions and simply do as their told? While I'll be the first to admit the working class in this country has gotten lazy and lacking motivation on the whole, how long before the New workforce figures out their only here because their willing to work for less and begin to demand more money etc. Then again was this done for the sole purpose of Both parties looking @ them as their next voting base? Does ANYONE not agree that the parallel between the millions arriving here and our schools / healthcare / welfare / and whatever other social programs going bust are do to this issue? The amount of lost revenue from most not paying taxes and cash money going to Mexico has got to add up in the multi-millions annually. And this is NOT something that can be blamed on one party or the other as BOTH are guilty of allowing it to continue!!!! While it was the Dems who during the Reagan Admin. who brought the bill up, he DIDN'T have to sign it......and nothing's been done since to stop the bleeding.............

Like it or not this IS a peaceful (for now) takeover of OUR country. If none of this bothers you great, but check out this information and know that it IS going on here in the US.

I've written on this site before that this issue is the one that broke America.

America's inability to deal with the issue made sure we had to offer Spanish teaching aides so little Juan could get an education while his dad was picking lettuce here in this country as an illegal worker.

Then there's the whole "anchor baby" issue. They could fix that with one bill. Have they? No. Just like the NAFTA issue...they won't. Everyone is too busy trying to secure a voting bloc that they're willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Free Healthcare? Don't want to hear about that again because we've been offering that service for decades at almost every single border state hospital. Don't get seen at a clinic...NOOOOOO...pop on in the Emergency Room! You're GUARANTEED to be seen by someone!

We should've used September 12th, 2001 as the day to install minefields, gun turrets and predator drones but we went back to sleep again.

As this nation slips off into a race to the bottom we'll see the immigrant issue play itself out like they will actually stay in Mexico!

There are problems about but most of them could've been solved IF we had leadership that was willing to work FOR America and not for votes.

The reason nothing is being done is because certain industries love the cheap labor. Agriculture, meat packing, home services like cleaning, cooks (ever look in a restaurant kitchen anywhere in the US?), lawncare, etc. It's often said that this is taking away American jobs, but really, how many Americans would want those jobs for what they pay?

And if they want an American, they would have to pay more, and I'd say great, more jobs for more Americans. But the price of lettuce, apples, grapes, chicken, beef and virtually everything else we eat would go up in price by 50% at least. It would be great if the people who do these jobs would have the same opportunities in the countries they are from, but as long as the jobs are here and the companies here want cheap labor and are able to get away with it, it's going to continue.

As far as the next voting base, I don't think any politician thinks that long term anymore. It's all about the next election and making money to run, and the people they get the money from are the ones hiring these workers.

Believe it or not, illegal immigrants actually contribute more to the economy and the country's coffers via taxes than they take. They do send a lot of it home to family though.

As far as health care is concerned, when someone shows up in a hospital medical professionals are required by oath to give care, and I think that's a good thing. How to figure out the money issue is another thing. One of those moral questions with no easy answer.

And btw, it wasn't the Dems who brought up the bill in the Reagan admin, it was a bi-partisan commission recommendation and authored by Simpson(R) and Mazzoli(D).

When I had tv I'd watch it occasionally. I've NEVER seen an undocumented immigrant worker on that show. That old "Jobs American's Won't Do" bit is for lazy ass people that refuse to actuall do ANYTHING! Save it for people that know better!

If you really believed what you wrote then you'd hire one and enter the workforce!

Yeah, some sick jobs out there for certain. I've also seen shows where they interview large farming operations and they've asked if an American has ever applied for a job in the fields, and the answer was 'never'.

It's not what I believe, it's what the studies show. If we really want to cut back on illegal immigration, go after the companies that hire them aggressively.

Um, I'm going to have to ask for a link. I am pretty sure my information is correct. Kennedy was more involved with the 2007 bill, though he did comment on the 86 one. Might he have physically been at the signing? Sure. But the way it went through Congress is how I explained.
