George W. Bush's speech after capture of Saddam:

The success of yesterday's mission is a tribute to our
men and women now serving in Iraq.

The operation was based on the superb work of
intelligence analysts who found the dictator's footprints
in a vast country. The operation was carried out with
skill and precision by a brave fighting force.

Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies
have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of
the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and
freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and
so do the risks.

Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of
our Armed Forces and I congratulate 'em.



Barack Obama speech after killing of bin Laden:

And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon
Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or
capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against
al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to
disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network.

Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by
our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible
lead to bin Laden.

It was far from certain, and it took many months to run
this thread to ground.

I met repeatedly with my national security team as we
developed more information about the possibility that
we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound
deep inside of Pakistan.

And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough
intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation
to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.

Today, at my direction, the United States launched a
targeted operation against that compound in
Abbottabad, Pakistan.

I remember thinking Obama used the word 'I' alot in his speech.... 😟

Bush used the word "duh" a lot . . . .

Bush was so humble he put on a flight suit, flew in a fighter jet, landed on an aircraft carrier and made a Mission Accomplished speech for a war that wasn't close to being over.

Obama was so humble he put all his speeches and pics of himself and stuff on an I-pod and gave it to the Queen... 😟

Was their a pic of his weiner?

This thread has taken a new course, but the original post is alarmingly accurate.

Bush always spread the praise to those around him (see above), and he always took the blame when the crap hit the fan (i.e. New Orleans and FEMA).

Obama has embodied the exact opposite of this.
And without even delving into the political banter of who is right or wrong, left or right, just think of this:

I've worked for both types.

You've got to be kidding. From what parallel dimension is that information.

When and where did he take the blame? The only thing I've seen he said he regretted about the Katrina thing was not landing and releasing the photo of him looking down from AF1, and that was in his book after he left office.

And when asked about mistakes in 94, well here is the transcript:

John?

QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President.

In the last campaign, you were asked a question about the biggest mistake you'd made in your life, and you used to like to joke that it was trading Sammy Sosa.

You've looked back before 9-11 for what mistakes might have been made. After 9-11, what would your biggest mistake be, would you say, and what lessons have learned from it?

BUSH: I wish you'd have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it.

John, I'm sure historians will look back and say, gosh, he could've done it better this way or that way. You know, I just -- I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with answer, but it hadn't yet.

I would've gone into Afghanistan the way we went into Afghanistan. Even knowing what I know today about the stockpiles of weapons, I still would've called upon the world to deal with Saddam Hussein.

See, I'm of the belief that we'll find out the truth on the weapons. That's why we sent up the independent commission. I look forward to hearing the truth as to exactly where they are. They could still be there. They could be hidden, like the 50 tons of mustard gas in a turkey farm.

One of the things that Charlie Duelfer talked about was that he was surprised of the level of intimidation he found amongst people who should know about weapons and their fear of talking about them because they don't want to be killed.

You know, there's this kind of -- there's a terror still in the soul of some of the people in Iraq.

BUSH: They're worried about getting killed, and therefore they're not going to talk. But it'll all settle out, John. We'll find out the truth about the weapons at some point in time.

However, the fact that he had the capacity to make them bothers me today just like it would have bothered me then. He's a dangerous man. He's a man who actually not only had weapons of mass destruction -- the reason I can say that with certainty is because he used them.

And I have no doubt in my mind that he would like to have inflicted harm, or paid people to inflict harm, or trained people to inflict harm, on America, because he hated us.

I hope -- I don't want to sound like I have made no mistakes. I'm confident I have. I just haven't -- you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one.
