GREENVILLE, SC—
Presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann made the promise of bringing the cost of gasoline down below $2 a gallon at a Greenville, South Carolina rally Tuesday.

It sounds a lot like the campaigning middle schoolers do for student council, 'vote for me and I promise more French fries with every meal in the cafeteria.'

Lowering prices at the pump may be a tough promise to keep. Right now the average price for gas is $3.59 a gallon.

But how do you do it?

Other than with a wave of her hand, Bachmann didn`t say specifically how she would help gas prices come down again.

Her website says she would ease drilling restrictions. Of course the good ol` 'drill baby drill' strategy, but even that wouldn`t make much difference.

They see the rise of China, the rise of India, the rise of the Soviet Union and our loss militarily going forward,” Bachmann said on conservative activist Jay Sekulow’s show. “And especially with this very bad debt ceiling bill, what we have done is given a favor to President Obama, and the first thing he’ll whack is 500 billion out of the military defense at a time when we’re fighting three wars. People recognize that.”
