Friend --

You got an email from the President a couple days ago, inviting you to sit down to dinner with him.

I know some people might think this is just some kind of trick or something. It's not.

The fact is that someday soon, four people reading this note right now will be on a plane to have dinner with President Obama in Washington, or Chicago, or wherever he might be that day.

Think about that for a second. The four people who win will sit down with the President of the United States of America -- not for a two-minute photo-op or a quick meet-and-greet, but for a private meal with face-to-face conversation. That's just not something too many people will ever get to do.

The President obviously has very little time to spend on anything related to the campaign. And this is how he chooses to spend it -- having real, substantive conversations with people like you.

This is really something you should be a part of.

Donate $5 today and you'll be automatically entered for the chance to have dinner with the President and three other supporters.

Worst-case scenario: you don't get selected. But if you donate, you'll have pitched in to support an organization that's funded at the grassroots level by folks across the country -- not Washington lobbyists or special-interest PACs. You'll have given this campaign a boost, however small, to hire organizers, open offices, and build our organization this fall so it's ready for the hard work ahead of us.

And best-case scenario, you'll find yourself sitting across the dinner table from President Obama.

So give it a shot -- donate $5 or more today:

If I won, I would purposely try to give myself horrible gas before I went, and rip as many loud stinky farts as I could during the meal.

Could I be charged with a crime for that?

But I would have to donate to Obama, besides I am busy that night.

But... the link for a no donation entry says, "The President wants to meet four supporters like you for dinner." I could proceed, but I would feel like a politician. [-x [-x [-x

It might be quite interesting dining with Obama on dishes from his native land. Kuku Paka sounds pretty tasty, as does the Samaki wa Kukaanga. I'd pass on the Mtuzi wa Samaki though.

What?! You've never been invited to the WH?? How sad, HD.
Been invited twice by lunkhead junior. Ignored the second one...

Keep your chin up. There's still hope. Obama's gonna need more internationalist $$$ before he's reelected. Send him a dividend's check.:-" 👻

Friend --

Not everyone knows how to prepare for a dinner like this. As someone who's eaten countless meals with my husband, I want to tell you the one thing to do if you're selected to join him...

Just relax. Barack wants this dinner to be fun, and he really loves getting to know supporters like you.

I hope you'll take him up on it before Friday's deadline.

Will you donate $3 or more today and be entered to have dinner with Barack?

These dinners mean a lot to Barack. They're a chance for him to talk with a few of the people who are driving the campaign -- and a chance for him to say thank you.

So come prepared to tell your story, and say whatever's on your mind.

Don't miss the opportunity to be there. Donate $3 today, before the September 30th deadline:

Thanks,

Michelle

I rode an elevator with Obama in the Senate Hart building about a month before he decided to run. I remember thinking that I was in the same elevator as potentially the next president, thinking on the national sentiment.
