Beers I was going to shop for I kept finding in my beer fridge. Thought I better pull out the ones I have and the ones we tried and get a lineup.

Spaten, Paulaner and Ayinger are good. Sam Adams was meh. Have not tried any of the rest.

You have fun with that, though! 🍺

Gonna have to check a little closer at my local .... they have a pretty good selection of beers including the Coney Island - just didn't see that many Ocktoberfest ....:-k

This is all the seasonal I have at the moment. So hard to find good beer in Mississippi.

Apparently can't post pictures unless you're the thread starter?

In picture: Abita Pecan Harvest and Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin

I must highly recommend the Abita Harvest.

That's a nice looking line up! Fall and Winter are when the best beers are released. I may have to do searching in my area for some of that Arcadia, this year I really got into trying the pumpkin ales but most places around me have pretty much sold out of their Octoberfest and Pumpkin. 😞
Flying Dog brewery is only about an hour away from me, good stuff and that Tumbler is great!

Time to plan a trip to Ohio...............I Love Marzen style brews, hell I even liked the Sam Adams OF but it's the only Sam Adams worth drinking IMHO.I'll try to give you more than a few hours notice Lou.

Would love to have you up my friend! Tried a couple today:

Spaten; a little skunky scent on the pour. Some bite at start that smooths out. Bought as a single where the green bottle sat on the shelf. Could explain sharpness. Still good.

Ayinger; Much smoother than the Spaten. Light fruitiness with a spritzer like taste; kind of champagne-like. Very good, but wouldn't drink it regularly, more as a special occasion.

Previously Had

Magic Hat Hex; had to go back for more. Flavor was excellent with some hoppy presence and spices on the finish. I would make this.

Ichabod; My wife's favorite. Little discernible pumpkin flavor, but spices are on point without being overbearing. My wife would love me long time if I could come up with a clone recipe for this.

Arcadia Ales JawJacker; We both kinda thought WTF when drinking this. Didn't know what they were going for with the flavors. Should try a second one, but not for the price they wanted for it.

Sam Adams Octoberfest; For an octoberfest, it seemed thin. Jen likes them, but they will probably sit until she drinks all the ones she likes better.

Paulener; last years leftover. Pretty sharp bite to it, like the Spaten. But once the bite died down, not much flavor left.

Sierra Tumbler; Said I didn't care much for it, and T.G. rebuked me. I'll have to have another one on a clean palate.

Coney Island Freaktoberfest; One I really wanted to try and the checkout girl said was awesome. Jen drank it when I was gone. She said it was just okay, but the smell of the bottle told of a decent hops presence. Couldn't tell much from the 3 drops left in the bottle. I rebuked her for drinking it without me. They were out when I got back to the store.

I'm still drinking last years Spaten Octoberfest......got maybe 2-6'rs left.Of the OF's Ive tried this one would be my fave. With you on the Ayinger, however with a nice Italian meal.....much better IMO than wine(I do not care for wine so maybe it's just ME).

Had Porterhouses with portabella's the other nite....paired with Ol Rasputin.Nothing I have found sets off a steak dinner better. The North Coast Brewery thanks you for turning me onto their dark gem......I'm sure their stock has doubled.LOL

I just bought $200 of brewing grain. I think I have most of what the Old Rasp clone calls for, other than the hops. That is one that is going to get done this winter. We will see how it stacks up. I could definitely see the Ayinger going well with light Italian or seafood. Good call. And I do like wine, but I think beer can go just as well.

As I read "porterhouse with portabellas", I started drooling........=p~

They all look delicious, Lou. Problem is, most liquor stores in my neck of the woods (45 minutes from of DC & Baltimore) don't carry most of these labels- aside from the Sam Adams (btw I agree with MACS on this one).

...and I don't want to pay $15+ for a sixpack. I can get a 20pack of MGDs for that. LOL 🍺
