Continuation of this post

http://www.cigarbid.com/Forum/c/posts/615535/My-New-Humidor-Part-1

After 3 weeks of seasoning, the humidor was ready to be filled. I believe all the air gaps have been sealed. The Rh has been holding between 65% and 70%. Let's hope it holds!IMAG0292 small.jpg

I bet there are plenty of b/sotl's that would consider that there is a TON of room left in there for more!

I agree. There is a ton of room. I was limited by the use of desktop humidors. The only other thing I could think of was cedar shelving, but I really wanted to keep my costs down. All I really spent was money on the humidor ($50), waterproof foam insulation tape ($6) and 70% beads ($16). I fortunately had everything else.

Nice! I noticed you using the Taylor Hygrometers. Are they accurate? I am converting a garage sale gun cabinet into a humidor and I am looking for some budget conscience alternatives to the $25-$30 hygrometers on most cigar web sites. Did you use any extra weatherstripping to seal it?

I got them from an industrial supply company right across the street from my work. They have them for $13.21 a piece. I bought four of them. Three read exactly the same temp and Rh and the fourth is a couple off. The specs say they are accurate +/- 10% which is a lot, but so far, they are pretty damn close right on.

If you are interested, PM me and I would be happy to pick some up and ship them to you.

I used waterproof foam rubber weather stripping from Home Depot. It was a couple bucks for 17 feet of it and so far it is working well. I pretty much had to seal around all four doors, but nothing else.

Thanks man. I use CFL bulbs and they run pretty cool. Temp inside never goes above 64.
