Look, in a perfect world, people would work together for the common good. Then if their ideas didn't work, they would admit to their failure, apologize, and bow out with a self- imposed term limit. That ain't going to happen.

In this day and age, politics has turned into an "all you can eat" buffet where the politician promises the voter as much grub as his constituent wants for a small price and practically no time limit at the trough. The politician (regardless of party) grabs as much as he can from the till and leaves when he's good an ready because the object of his buffalo wing feast is too fat and content to vote him out.

Get used to it. I've tried bucking the trend for decades to no effect. To paraphrase Drafter, offer 'em free stuff & they'll keep voting for you. I've decided this time around that Obama has blown it despite his excuses that Republicans stonewalled him etc. and has lost the privilege to be President again. Unlike most blacks and other ethnic/racial groups who will march in a short bus goosestep and vote for him regardless of performance, I will not.

like I said, it's all about ego with these guys that want to become President (Ron Paul may be an exception).

Recently, a friend who works for a Fortune 500 (probably a Fortune 100) company was telling us about the time this big marketing firm came into their work to talk about marketing a brand. It was the same marketing firm that was hired by the Clinton campaign when Bob Dole was running. They talked about all the research they did to put together the best "marketing" campaign together for Clinton. Their research showed that people didn't like negative campaigning, but they learned that they could run an ad basically bad-mouthing Dole for XX seconds, and as long as they didn't go over XX seconds and ended the commercial with about 2 seconds of Clinton saying something positive, then a majority of the people wouldn't see it as negative. They would even go as far as changing the coloring in the ads and pics when they'd talk about Bob Dole (i.e. black and white, or darken it up a bit), but would make sure to brighten it up and use more color when showing Bill Clinton. They wouldn't even try and target a broad base of people. They knew they didn't have make ads to appeal to those who would vote for Clinton no matte what, and knew they weren't going to sway those on the other end of scale either (Captain Obvious stuff I guess). They knew they had to reach this one target "market" and they put all their efforts into that group. Maybe with Bob Dole as a presidential candidate it didn't take much, and I'm not really doing it any justice to repeat the stuff my friend mentioned. But after hearing how much money is spent in just marketing a president, simply to win based more or less on a brand, rather than a person's ability...which is pretty much how most President's get elected, it just confirmed to me that people really are idiots and none of these guys are really worthy of being president. These marketing firms are good at what they do, and after each election they have another 4 years to perfect their skill, and that is simply to draw people towards a certain candidate and win elections.

Anyway, the cliff notes version is....these egomaniacs running for president put all their efforts into marketing themselves. They spend a whole lot of time, effort, and resources (money) putting their brand out there and touting it as the best...mostly based on fancy packaging and not based on how it will function...which, for the most part, turns out to be a box, stamped "guaranteed," with a piece of crap in it. The thought process for choosing a president is probably not much different than when someone goes to the mall to pick out some clothes, a tv, or car shops...influenced by the marketing.

Politics bore the he!! out of me. And, personally, I'm probably more shocked at the large number of people who go out to vote versus the large number of people who don't vote at all. I'm almost more inclined to believe the people who stay home and not vote are smarter than 80% of those who go out to vote, since it's probably those 80% who vote based solely on warm and fuzzy ads and/or political party. Yea, I'm probably being Captain Obvious again.

Ahem...the clown had 2 unfettered years of COMPLETE Democratic control of the House and Senate! Doesn't get any less "stonewalled" than that!

Look at how History has proved H. Ross Perot correct. The crazy old grandma in the basement...the national debt AND that giant sucking sound...NAFTA...oh, if only America had listened then. If only they'd listen to Paul now. I hear ya...hell I worked for the Alan Keyes campaign in the Detroit Metro area...talk about going uphill...both ways...in the snow...everyday...without a jacket...oh, I hear ya!

Yep, I hear ya too, brother. I loved Alan Keyes especially after his performance against Obama in the Chicago debates.
...and Perot was right. I was one of those lemmings who got his Republican papers, supported NAFTA and ignored Perot (mostly for physical/personality flaws).

Referring to your writing style- full of minutiae. Made me think you worked in a technical field (writing tech manuals, separating fly sxxt in ground pepper, etc.). But then again I like shiny things.🤤

Bored?! What's that????
I usually feel like I'm in a phone booth doing 12 rounds with Randall "Tex" Cobb (Raising Arizona).

DMV and Bloody Spaniard both Keyes fans? Cool. I voted for him in the '96 Republican primary. When the idiots picked Dole, I joined the Libertarians and voted for Browne.

Only problem that I have with Keyes is that his campaign ended owing a lot of money. There were books/expenses that were never fully explained... but I blame his campaign organizers more than I blame him.

I really wish Maobama had died..............not that he is a bad guy or anything. I just really would get a good laugh out of hearing more President Biden speeches on national tv.

president obama can give his speech about why he is going to tell the republican leaders can go9 F themselves,
he isn't running again so he does not have to put up with their s**t anymore and he can try to fix what the bush's
did to all but destroy this country/

he can smoke in public and georege can start getting drunk in public again.

and maybe the woman who had the had an abortion to protect the bush family will show all the records and take the million larry flint has in escrow for her.

Nevermind that he had 2 years of control over the Oval office and both houses and managed to do jack sh*t. the country was so anti-Bush and anti-Republican that they voted for a guy who isnt qualified to run the White House Easter egg hunt much less sit in the big boy chair and it took him all of two years to reverse that sentiment enough to lose his full control.

Romney has great hair and from what I have heard minty fresh breath. Plus he is a rich older white guy and we all know rich older white guys are the only ones who can save us.

The Kennedy's and Clinton make the Republicans look like the NOW. If it did happen, abortion right or wrong, is legal. Drowning a campaign worker and not reporting it until the next morning is not. Stuffing a cigar in a chubby 18 yo intern and then spooging on her dress is gray.
