Been meaning to post a pic of this cigar. It's my last Chateau Fuente Royal Salute (Maddy) from a 5 pack I picked up about Dec. 2001. All 5 oiled up like this under the cedar tube. A great two hour smoke!!

ok, serious question. I'm still pretty new at all this but my new neighbor (who has a handleful of dog rockets in a $10 humi)said that when the oils come to the surface that they are no longer good. I personally thought that's when they were at their best. I mean the desciption of most maduros on cbid say something to extent about an oily wrapper. so yes or no?

Gypsy- oil is not a sign that a cigar has gone bad... most cigars, unless intended to be, will never be oily. If you are a fan of maduro's you will see an oily wrapper more often than another shade that is lighter. Tell your neighbor when his smokes "go bad" to send them to me and I'll get rid of them.

I must help Country out on this one, the next time any of you run into a nasty looking oily wrapper leaf like the one pictured. Wrap that disgusting looking thing up in a zip lock bag and mail it to me immediately for destruction, I can't sit back and watch my BOTL smoke something so covered in oil and sweet goodness that smoking it not only hurts your lungs but clogs up your ateries at the same time. I will make the sacrifice for you, I will take the bullet, I'm a Marine and not afraid to charge the hill of oily wrappers to spair my brothers the pain of a +1hour herf of pure joy.

Does this mean that Country qualifies for his and Deltas b@#! of the week list?

That is the only thing I can think of; maybe just wood smoke in general. The few cedar wrapped ones I have had did make me stuffy. The funny thing is, I have an appointment with the allergy doc this morning. We stay away from the cigar subject. :o) For some reason cigar smoke doesn't seem to bother me and that is a blessing.
