Obama administration to offer Immunity to younger immigrants

Published June 15, 2012

Associated Press

The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin giving work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of a growing Latino electorate that has opposed administration deportation policies.

The administration's decision will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants. Two senior administration officials described the plan on condition of anonymity ahead of its expected announcement Friday.

Illegal immigrants will avoid deportation and be eligible for work permits if they arrived in the U.S. before age 16, are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military.

Film at 11...... 🤔 🤔

Nope.

Too many loop holes.

Ship them all out and give them priority status to return.

Or process them through the system without deporting them, and have the numbers count against the immigration quotas for that specific country.

Granting "immunity" generates a greater fervor for tomorrows gate-rush.

can't blame the kid for being smuggled over.... but ya, I see lots of loopholes... define trouble.. if you're taking a GED doesn't that usually mean you screwed up highschool..?? I know there are exceptions... The military service thing I say OK tho... 😟

I don't dig it!!! Why is a freakin immigrant entitled to more benefits being handed to them than a native citizen???

Timing?!?!? Give them more of what they want and they will surely vote for you!!! Obama's buy-a-vote campaign begins...

+ 10000 to cacman

Citizens are treated like prisoners and Mexican citizens here illegally are gifted so much. It's crap. How about the Mexican citizens go home and force a change in their own country and make it worth living in.

Yeah, it's so unfair. Those 800k mexicans that won't be deported now will screw us, take our jobs and all our money. Sure they only represent less that 1/2 of 1% of our workforce, but they hold so much power over us. The top 1% having over 40% of the wealth, but pointing that out is 'class warfare', so quick, look at the Mexicans!!!! They're the ones causing all the problems.

Now bring me another goat to sacrifice!

Settle down little Princess. Nobody is too worried about you stealing anyone's job. So we can afford to have about 800K fill the void of 1 American.

So we should let anyone come here without restriction simply because it won't take away my job?

Many subjects have grey area.

This one doesn't.

If a person is here illegally, they should be either deported, or jailed, or processed into the system. This last option is not the same as immunity because immunity becomes an escape clause with ramifications beyond its intent.

To sit there an try to minimize the impact of the illegal population like you did in your previous post is absurd.

The overall numbers on a nationwide level may seem insignificant to you, but you must realize that these populations are concentrated in just a few major areas. And to those locations, the impact is catastrophic. You do a disservice to the discussion when you trivialize the data for your own self serving purpose.

This sounds good to me. As long as we can decide which laws we will enforce and which ones we will just overlook I guess this means I don't have to pay $150 and go to driving school for my ticket for going 45 in a 35 zone.

Or is that just a dream? 🤔
