Our current president who smokes (or smoked) cigarettes and most likely will stop the FDA from regulating the cigar industry based on the input from the CRA, petitions and having Biden meet with the CRA?

or

A guy who's religion has strict covenants againest Tobacco of any kind, nicotine, alcohol, hot drinks such as coffee and tea. It is a sin to use tobacco according to the Mormon faith. If you think he would stop the FDA from regulating cigars you are seriously mistaken.

Niether guy can create jobs but Romney would destroy the small business cigar stores and factories. He would next stop Starbucks from selling coffee and close bars and licquor stores.😉

Wow.

Just, wow.

Comrade, if we are talking about whether we could smoke on the back deck of either Romney's or Obama's house, then you might have a point.
But no Republican would ever poke that hornets nest.
too many tobacco friends. Too many tobacco taxes. Too many RED states are won and lost on the tobacco vote.

No president would choose his religion over his party politics.

A Catholic Democrat would be pro-choice. Or he would never get the DEM vote.
Likewise, your smokes are safe with Mittens.

I know I'm going to get FLAMED for this but I'm only reporting on what I've seen.

More and more Republicans are supporting the smoking bans. I have seen it happen in multiple cities around Jackson MS....Flowood, Brandon, Pearl and more to come. I would consider Jackson do be mostly Democratic and they made the jump first but many Rep have followed suit.

So I'm afraid this is a trend that is coming to all of us.

Now for my opinion.....

I'm torn on the issue. I see both sides. I see the endangerment of others but I also hate big government and lack of choice. The Wife and I discuss this often. (Many of you already know she is the anti tobacco lady) I have seen a buddy of mine struggle as a business owner struggle because of the ban, but now his business is starting to bounce back. But how is he compensated for the years of lost revenue? I don't think he will be. The new nonsmoking business might offset the loss of regulars but it doesn't compensate for the down time.

I personally hate smokey joints, but I just avoid them....problem solved. I say let America make a choice.

But to answer the question....I think Obama would support a ban before Mitt would.

Mattie B's wife is most likely to ban cigars apparently.

If she had her way, all tobacco would be banned. Not just cigars.

Let's hope she doesn't decide to run next term.

I always wonder how many of these anti-tobacco Nazis are overweight, in bad health, and spend the day shoving poison down their gullets.

Russian, I disagree with your premise. In fact, I thought that you were derisively poking at Obama being a closet muslim at first until I saw "mormon". Mattie's right IMO. Neither party cares to protect tobacco. However, I am voting for Romney this time even though it is inevitable that restricted sale of ALL tobacco will eventually be the clarion call for both parties much as alcohol & cigarettes. Fast food is next. All the screaming & histrionics in the world will not postpone it. We'll survive though... (shrugging Orwellian shoulders)

Now, let's elect Romney so that we can at least delay a foregone conclusion... As a business man, I think he can at least empathize with the plight of B&M's. =p~
